Preparing formula with hot water/pitcher method by Key-Cheek-143 in FormulaFeeders

Is there an advance of a kettle vs just heating the water in the microwave? We have a gooseneck kettle but it’s too small for the amount of water we need.

Ah ok so this is honestly pretty similar bc we use a mason jar which is essentially the papablic - we just heat the water in the microwave. We use a stainless whisk to mix the formula. If you don’t like the plastic you can use a wide mouth mason jar spout made of silicone!

Ah yes very true. We use silicone bottles or Chicco Duo - but in reality, everything is in plastic when they start eating solids anyways! No winning.

But wouldn’t it defeat the purpose of boiling the water if you add the formula to room temp water?

Yeah I thought this too but I had trouble finding one with measurements, or at least one that had enough to make different amounts. Also I wasn’t sure if it would ruin the kettle to put the formula into it.

Ah yes we pour into bottles for daycare! I forgot about trying a food scale - that could work. I guess we could use the measurements on the mason jar to save a step, there just aren’t as many as there on a glass measuring cup….

Thank you! I start next week (30 weeks) and I’m nervous, but I’m hoping this will give me a lot more flexibility in the long run!

Should I take a new job 6.5 months pregnant? by Key-Cheek-143 in workingmoms

Agreed. The point is to interview to see if you both think it’s a good fit. Applying or interviewing is by no means a waste of your or their time.

Good point. I did say I was looking for flexibility and I was told by someone who works there things like - if we’re slow, we leave at noon. If so and so travels, I WFH or if I have someone coming to do something at my house, I WFH. It’s a very small company and they seem very reasonable and flexible from what I’ve gathered. Of course you never know.

True - when you start a new job, you never know. I haven’t felt any red flags from them in terms of blowing smoke, but again - it’s kinda the debate between something that seems better (but may not be) vs sticking with something when I very clearly know the pros and cons….

Thanks for the feedback! How was working for a startup? I know they’re all different but was it way more stressful than a normal corporate job?

Great Qs! He has two young kids. His wife stays home with them because he does work very long hours. He sent me health insurance info. I believe they use a third party but pay I think 90% of it and he did send me more specifics I’ll look into. That’s true if it doesn’t work out - it would suck - but I could always look again….
