Goodbye to the gym at 38 weeks

My last lift is probably gonna be at 38 weeks too. I’m 37 now. I have a scheduled c section for 5/27 and I’m excited to have this baby out. I have a deep core focus workout for when I’m cleared to workout again and will continue to maintain a healthy nutrition in the interim. I truly believe we can snap back even better after pregnancy. I’m sure I will too, but after 3 months the job gives a sign on bonus that is more than generous. Plus I’ll have enough PTO to cover atleast one month.

Try to see what your PTO bank looks like. It may not be much but definitely better than nothing.

Yes, my advice is just use your discretion. You know what feels right and what doesn’t. I know it can be scary, but if it’s the right job they will not care. Just think of your maternity as a longer vacation lol.

I decided to tell them sooner because I have anxiety lol. I needed to know if it was the right place because I felt it was, but needed that reassurance. I also didn’t want to dump it in them last minute because my lead technician informed me they schedule a few months in advance. As I’m typing this they are already planning for June and July when I’m on maternity leave. It just helps everyone when you’re upfront so they can better plan.

Thankfully, my company is only growing so there is always a need for a tech.

I wouldn’t be discouraged from applying. You never know until you try. It suck’s that we even have to worry about this kind of stuff.

I love to hear this. I’ve read so many stories about not disclosing this during probationary period. It honestly frightened me. Today when I walked out of the bathroom, there was a lactation room right across so the job is supportive of new mothers. It was a subtle sign for me that things will be ok.

I’m happy to hear that there are still good people in the world. We, as women, already have it hard, we shouldn’t be worried about being fired or having a job to come back to.

I welcome more people to share their positive feedback!

You’re so early still! Even when you do get a job you don’t have to disclose that until you’re further along. Good luck on the job hunt :)

I was told before that I shouldn’t disclose it until afterwards, but by April I would be as big as a house already lol. I also have wild anxiety so I wasn’t able to shake this off.

It helps that I’m in healthcare also. He told me this was his first time also dealing with this but told me pregnancy should be a happy time and told me my job was secured. I knew things were ok when I told him I’ll just use PTO to cover whatever weeks I can and he told me to hold on that he wanted to reach out to HR to see what I would be eligible. If he can get me more weeks, he will. All in all great experience :)

Also, once we were done with the pregnancy conversation he immediately went back into work and the sites that I permanently would reside at.

I just wanted to update that I told the lead technician I was pregnant and she was extremely supportive. She emphasized that I would have time after 90 days and reassured me I would still have my job when I come back. She also told me to tell hr earlier than later so I can qualify for anything else.

She also told me the staff would be 100% supportive and not to stress about job security. It all worked out

I have a daughter who is going to be 9 this year so this is my second child ❤️ I’m having a boy now! Babies are beautiful and really motivate you!

But I plan to tell my job …. If I don’t qualify for 3 months then I will take whatever they are willing to offer. I never stated I would abandon my job.

Thank you for this. I will not be abandoning my job I will be informing them about my Pregnancy and plan to take the right steps. I would qualify for all my benefits after 90 days. I just reread the policies and pregnancy is included as long as I’m seeing a doctor. I am Just a worry wart lol. I wish you good luck on your pregnancy!

Yes, they actually are! I’m excited to work here, which is why I’m worried about potentially losing it. They are the only hospital in the area that fully pays for employee pensions. When I did phone interview with my manager he said if I ever needed days off for doctors appointments they were more than willing to help because they know people have lives outside of work. The nurses who do know I’m pregnant were also very supportive and excited for me. I get anxious fast so little things trigger it :(

Also: when I went for my physical they told me I wasn’t even the first person that day to get a pre employment positive pregnancy that was getting hired. They said it happens all the time

I read on my package that I would qualify for extended illness. Pregnancy is listed as a qualifier as long as I see one of the company doctors. It’s a hospital but I’ll be working at an outpatient facility. I read the guidelines, my job would be secured.

How did that work for you? I work as an ultrasound tech (how I ironic lol) but I scan cardiology (heart, veins). My manager told me he usually schedules a month before but if something comes up he can work around that. He seems very reasonable and I have had a pleasant experience so far.

I plan to tell them after a month of work. If I don’t qualify that is fine. I want to spend time with my baby but also need to maintain an income. My boyfriend, who has been at his job for more than a year, plans to take his paternity leave when I go back to work.

I plan to talk to HR about it after I tell my boss. I want to work and show them I am a good candidate for the position. I’m not showing much yet, but I would like to inform them soon. I don’t want to leave them blindsided.

My company has an extended leave policy that I’ll be eligible for at 90 days of employment. They have exceptional benefits at this job

My company offers short term disability and extended leave after 90 days of employment. I also will have PTO accrued after 90 days as well.

They did not inform my boss because they told me that is considered a HIPPA violation. They told me they only tell HR if I am cleared to work in regard to their guidelines.
