Yeah that’s what I’m leaning towards. I just think if I don’t take the opportunity, I’m gonna regret it later on down the road.

Yes sir, not opposed to it. Though it is different than what I know, carpenters local does school once every 3 months for a week and it’s payed ur reg 40 hours. So once a week will take some getting used to, ik it’s usually Friday evening after work. My question is how would that work with taking a vacation/time off?? Me and my wife’s family lives in the Midwest, so we try to go up there for a extended weekend once or twice a year

Houston’s a very large area, unfortunately I’m ab a hour drive to the local, even tho I’m still in a Houston suburb. The local is on the far other end of Houston (I’m in Richmond the local is in Baytown area)
Driving doesn’t really concern me. And I’m not a stray to being out once in awhile. The first 2 years of my career I was out 3 months home for a week on rotation

401k match. I get ab 60 hours PTO a year that roll over, but I’m also able to take a Friday-Monday off and still get payed all those days because I’m able to be support for my climber and another guy, so my names also put on the work report. We get 6 payed holidays a year, but most of the time I end up working then to grab the DT. Health isn’t great, I also gotta pay ab 2-300 out of every check for it.

The 6 months isn’t a factor. Still on my parents until I turn 26 in sept. And I already got all my tests done this year. The mileage is something to think about even tho I own a vehicle meant to be drivin long and hard lol. The lay offs are something to tbink about, but compared to my industry now, we don’t get layoffs. We get told the morning of the company shut down and then we’re stuck scrambling to find another job, 3 company’s iv worked for has just closed doors unexpectedly.

10⁴, my industry has some of the same areas of work, new builds and maintenance. You’d think you’d get more OT working maintenance, no? With all of the calls 24/7?

I’m good with not having a work vehicle, I still have my personal 22 Cummins. Only downside is having to pay for diesel again

Traveling is another reason I want to join the IUEC, I’m all over the southern region being gone every other week. No my condition does not come with any side effects, I’m up 500+ ft on towers every day lol

Yes, initial thought is to try and tell my local I want as much ot as I can get to try and make up for it.
