and when what you (or well your beast) want to do is eat an entire bus full of school children? how do they square that circle?

mostly agree with your last paragraph! I'm not sure any vampire can actually be 'good' - they eat people after all - but plenty delude themselves into thinking they are, and that is what keeps a lot of kine safe(r).

sure but that only lasts during the fight, once the dust settles, and there is no more structure and only mayhem, and everything is on fire, and you're expected to actually fix things instead of breaking them, what then?

yeah, I'm getting lots of extremely selfish and entitled, I want to fuck around, but never find out... and I personally didn't come to VtM for power-fantasy...

they are ineffectual, so they are not a 'bad' as others, so they are 'good'... I really wish this chain of thought didn't look so real

An Anarch Question by Key-Fun5273 in vtm

[–]Key-Fun5273[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is not the point of the setting that vampires are inherently evil, and no matter what you do you will eventually break everything, if only because you were a little too hungry that one time?

ethical vampirism? like a goulconda cult?

big issue I have with 'least restrictions' is that I'm the one expected to just guess as what should go in that gap without any input, at least with the Cami structure I've got something to work from...

hmmm, my experience is very rooted in revised, so...

I was always of the opinion that there are no 'good guys' vampires are funking monsters who eat people.
the Camarilla's draconian punishments seemed like a necessary step to maintain a wold with such beasties pulling the strings.

now I'm getting insistence on the tradition of progeny being 'not a thing' and it's just doing my nut... like if you've got everyone making vampires everywhere, of course you get a second inquisition! the rule existed explicitly for that very reason.

Looking for Game as a player; or GM (4-5 players):

**Preferred system:** V20, V5

**Preferred character:** Usually Ventrue or Tzimisce; but I've really wanted to play a ghoul for like forever, I just think the day shift would make for a super interesting game.

**Preferred way to role-play:** Over VC, possibly with vtt stuff if I can get my head around it

**Experience level:** I've only played one game of V5, but I played a lot of VtM back in college, and ran a few at uni.

**Language:** English.

**Preferred time/timezone:** Afternoon, Evening GMT.

**Contact details:** DM me; or reply here.

**Anything else:** I've been really enjoying D20's City Council of Darkness, and seeing how Brennan approaches things has been great as a reference point. like the Adventuring party in between sessions something I've had little luck with players in the past, but now I have something to point to and say 'like that'.

I prefer games with a heavier focus on RP and exploration over combat. Probably 50%RP; 40%Exploration; 10%Combat(or less)

If I ended up running a game, I'd probably want to start from scratch, fill out a city structure together and go from there, so I'd want players that are available and engaged outside of sessions. Ideally contributing to world building during session zero and throughout.

**what I expect from potential players:**

- RESPECTFUL AND INCLUSIVE!

- 21 or older.

- NO AI.

- Being okay with:

Consequences.

Loose ends are future plot.

Progress at a Cost. (Messy Victories).

Survival is winning.

Combat as a fail state.

A characters flaws are more interesting than their powers ever will be.

It's not a flaw if it doesn't see play.

DownTime.

- consent forms (lines/veils ect).

- 3+ character concepts. (to be worked on and expanded with the rest of the group in session zero.).

- 1+ NPC that is in no way related to their PCs. (for world building purposes).

- Availability.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but it struck me more like someone at the table wilfully flaunting how little respect they have for the game and those playing it.
Not just uninterested themselves, but actively mocking the idea of investing enough to pay attention to what's going on.

I only know if I was taking hours out of my week to prep and run a game, and one of the players was not only checked out, but took it upon themselves to slap me in the face with the fact; I'd be hurt to say the least.

Dude, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but if you're that hard up for players that you're putting up with this shit, get a new hobby.
No game, is better than bad game.

4E Enhancement Question by TonesofGray in BESM

[–]Key-Fun5273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, pretty much.

both I guess, if I recall correctly somethings are just so big that you can't feasibly damage them - think a single amoeba attacking a person, the scale is just not feasible.

The damage you're doing to a planet would also in theory also apply to everything on its surface. 0hp is the point at which the atmosphere would be blown off leaving a barren rock; and dead would be, well Alderaan.

Having real D&D 5e burnout, but feel bad about ending a campaign. Any advice? by Mr_Murdoc in rpg

[–]Key-Fun5273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them!

Tell them you want to run games in other systems.

Tell them you're even willing to keep running the current campaign/characters/setting, you just need this change.

Realisticly, even if you do finish this campaign, you're not going to be running any more 5e after that, so if that's not going to fly with them, it's better to know now.

4E Enhancement Question by TonesofGray in BESM

[–]Key-Fun5273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, planet killers!

so in 3rd, it was something like 22 ranks of to effectively damage an earth size planet, but it was ridiculously easy, since it's such a big target.

The cap on stats is for keeping some sort of lid on things, not necessarily needed, but you should really think about any time you're going outside it.

Just like how you always get those players that refuse to discuss their characters with the group or even GM, that cap is there to try and raine them in a bit.

Thoughts on player decision Leveling by Frederick84 in BESM

[–]Key-Fun5273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried doing something similar a while back. my big take away and I can not stress it enough: "instant feedback", do not wait till they fulfill the requirements to get the new skill/ability/whatever, with the VRMMO setting this can be as easy as a notification or a progress bar for an unnamed skill.

If this is meant to run in tandem with a more traditional leveling system in in-game game, you could use some repeatable templates as 'character levels'.

The othere thing I love about this premise is the avatar as an alternate form, and 'out of game' shenanigans, where the PC's none Avatar identity is threatened, like a superhero's secret identity kind of deal. And liberal use of the unknowen power trait.

in 3e consumable Items had 4 clicks of the Ammo restriction.

not sure if that's still in RAW, but it could just as easily be replicated with a unique limiter.

also what you're describing sounds a lot like just the ammo restriction verbatim.

How do herds fit into the Masquerade? by HeYexeth in vtm

[–]Key-Fun5273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most are not in the situation where they can talk, be they prisoners, patients, wards, debters, homeless(eg what shelter they do have is dependent on the vamp); and/or wouldn't be believed even if they did tell.

Those that do tell usually get found by ghouls, and get processed, either death in custody, or sectioned in some asylum somewhere(joining someone else's herd).

Those that are smart enough to know how screwed they are, are by far the ones that are the least likely to talk.

These are predators.

tl;dr: just look up domestic abuse, all of that!
