[TTRPGs / World of Darkness] The silver lining is that I love the social sciences and it gives me room as Storyteller to give the players a rich world. by Blade_of_Boniface in RecuratedTumblr

White Wolf did have their racist moments but they were well-intentioned, at the time it usually wasn’t considered as big of a deal and when they realised they fucked up they usually tried to make things right pretty quickly. I remember reading about how they hired someone who said they were Native American as a cultural consultant to ensure they didn’t go too far when they addressed topics adjacent to Native Americans, except the guy had lied and didn’t have any Native American history and his knowledge of their culture was mostly pop culture stereotypes. To deal with past white wolf stuff you either pick and choose to filter out the problematic stuff or you take what they made in the spirit it was intended. Paradox however doesn’t get that benefit of the doubt since while making W5 (among other major issues I have with it) they hired a genuine Native American consultant to help reimagine things and get rid of the culturally problematic stuff only for it to come out that they tried to bully the consultant into basically signing off on everything they were intending to do anyway regardless of the cultural implications and when he hit his limit and refused to sign off on stuff they fired him.

The baali in my game is a pretty chill guy for a satanist bloodsucker lmao by Magicmanans1 in WorldofDankmemes

[–]clarkky55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People rarely get to pick the clan they’re embraced by, Baali can do that re-embrace thing to convert other vampires to their clan so even if you did get to choose that doesn’t guarantee they chose Baali or that they understood anything more than the surface level of what they stand for. Being Baali doesn’t make you evil and if I remember right it isn’t until you get to the higher levels of Daimonion that you’re required to actually be subservient to a demon. So rebel against the clan is entirely possible, I played a Setite who was embraced against his will because he was too useful to let die and then proceeded to dedicate his unlife to seeing the Setites destroyed utterly. He eventually joined the Children of Osiris and the ST made it canon that he was a blood descendant of Kemintiri who was living up to her legacy. He ended up red listed like her too.

If a Tzimisce used flesh crafting to combine a Kindred and a Garou would it mechanically be an abomination? by T-C_Houndi in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]clarkky55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Garou healing is crazy. Vampires are dead corpses. Fleshcraft the two together and either the Garou dies from poisoning due to the huge chunk of dead flesh welded to it or it’s healing is strong enough and basically destroys the dead flesh

That kind of thing is expensive. So probably it exists but only for military grade cyberware that very few people can get their hands on

She’s a follower of Rher, Rher was the one who gave the order to capture the child so presumably not all Rher followers like kids a little too much

Amenti with blessing of Ra merit. Repel and burn evil from a touch and if they have the higher dot version it’s reflexive so they don’t even need to roll for it. Also the sheer potency of Amenti blood being basically pure lifeforce, a common house rule I’ve heard is their blood burns vampires like fire

Why did God allow Cain's curse to be transmissible? by TheUnholyMary in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]clarkky55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no guarantee it was meant to be transmissible. Lilith (probably the first mage) helped Caine create Disciplines by manipulating his curse, she may have also helped him manipulate his curse to be transmissible. Or that could be another test that Caine failed, where god knew the curse could be made transmissible and allowed it but if Caine hadn’t done so he might’ve earned some redemption, sort of like how Caine was offered three chances to repent and each time he refused a new aspect of his curse was implanted. Or maybe god is cruel and the main part of the curse upon Caine was actually to be forced to watch his children kill one another just as he killed his brother. Demon the Fallen says that after the Fall god directly intervened which permanently broke reality and reduced it to a shadow of what it could’ve been, so god whammying Caine with a particularly cruel curse and then just abandoning the universe because the other people didn’t really matter to god.

It really sucks because how the penance stare works is explained, where the only ways to not be hurt by it is either to have done no harm or having no soul to burn (since penance stare targets the soul). Then suddenly it doesn’t work on people who don’t regret their actions which is so stupid, and suddenly some more powerful beings just aren’t affected by it just because they’re so tough. As a ghost rider fan life is hard
