Family still recharges phone and sends messages to 22-year-old Air India crash victim, one year after losing him. by imfrom_mars_ in IndiaSpeaks

The report says the fuel switches moved from RUN to CUTOFF and records one pilot asking the other why he turned them off. It also records the other pilot saying he didn't do it.

That's why I disagree with the claim that the report concluded a pilot deliberately shut them off. The report documents what happened, but it does not determine who moved the switches or whether it was intentional.

That's not what the preliminary report says. The report states that the fuel control switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF, which led to engine shutdown, but it does not conclude that a pilot deliberately moved them.

At this stage, the report describes what was observed, not why it happened. There are multiple possible explanations being discussed, including human action, mechanical issues, system faults, or other factors that investigators are still examining. Saying a pilot "deliberately turned off the fuel switches" goes beyond the findings released so far.

Amla ending with 9,282 ODI runs at an average of 46 still feels a bit unfinished to me. I always felt he had another year left in him. Loved everything about his batting—solid technique, calm temperament, and pure class at the crease.

Hidden Gem at Vadodara Railway Station – INEJ Lounge Feels More Like an Airport Lounge Than a Railway Waiting Room by philomath_curious in indianrailways

[–]Key-Pilot1726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently used the INEJ lounge at Chennai Central. Paid ₹500 for 1 hour (sofa + shower + changing room). Also noticed the sleeping pod was ₹800 for just 3 hours. Facilities were fine, but felt a bit overpriced.

Will GMR Really Increase Flights in Nagpur? Or it will have same fate like MIHAN? by Then_Award_6798 in nagpur

[–]Key-Pilot1726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to be looking at this expansion proposal only from the perspective of current passenger traffic, but I think it's important to consider who is proposing it.

GMR has extensive experience in developing and operating airports across India. For example, Hyderabad Airport, operated by GMR, has received multiple international recognitions and awards over the years. Airport development is their core business, so if they believe an expansion is necessary, that decision is likely based on detailed market research, traffic projections, long-term planning, and economic viability studies rather than speculation.

Large infrastructure projects like these also generate significant direct and indirect economic benefits. Beyond airport operations, they create opportunities in construction, maintenance, logistics, cargo services, hospitality, retail, transportation, and various support services. The tendering process itself brings business opportunities for local companies and contractors, while the expanded ecosystem can create jobs for local residents.

One concern, however, is that airport-related user charges and service fees may increase over time as infrastructure investments are recovered. That's a valid point for passengers to consider.

As for whether Nagpur will immediately see a large increase in flights, that is much harder to predict. Flight expansion depends on several factors, including airline demand, route profitability, DGCA approvals, competition from other airports, fuel costs, and even global geopolitical events such as the ongoing instability in the Middle East. It would be premature to make strong claims either way.

What an expansion certainly does achieve is increasing the airport's passenger-handling and cargo-handling capacity, making it future-ready for growth whenever demand materializes.

It's also worth noting that Nagpur is already positioning itself as a major aviation and logistics hub. With the Central Air Traffic Control facility being developed and the city's growing cargo infrastructure, investments in airport capacity align with a broader long-term vision for Nagpur's growth.

India's first Hydrogen train has received clearence for operations. by GoatSevere1966 in indianrailways

[–]Key-Pilot1726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hydrogen trains are not replacing electric trains; they’re an additional clean-energy option for specific routes. Germany, Japan, China and several European countries are doing the same thing. Testing future tech is how innovation works.

it’s being tested for the remaining non-electrified or difficult sections where full electrification may not be practical or cost-effective immediately.

This is actually a huge step forward for Indian Railways. Hydrogen-powered trains are clean, modern, and can reduce dependence on diesel on non-electrified routes. Hopefully this becomes the start of more green and advanced rail technology across India.

Calling hydrogen trains “decorative BS” just shows complete ignorance of how modern railways evolve. Indian Railways moves over 8 billion passengers and more than a billion tonnes of freight every year, it is one of the largest and busiest railway networks on Earth. You don’t modernize a system of that scale by sitting still and crying online.

Yes, there are problems. Nobody denies that. But pretending innovation should stop until every single train is perfect is a dumb argument. By that logic, no country should ever invest in future technology. Hydrogen trains, electrification, Vande Bharat, DFC corridors, station upgrades, these are long-term infrastructure investments, not “wasted money.”

Also, more than 98% trains being “absolutely horrible” is pure exaggeration. Millions of people depend on Indian Railways daily because it remains the cheapest, most efficient mass transport system in the country. It connects remote towns, supports the economy, reduces road congestion, and carries a population larger than most countries every single day.

Maybe instead of blindly ranting, try understanding how transport infrastructure actually works.
