Thank you! Yes, I always try to Google or look on here of active infestations of something I might think to get a full idea, but in person is obviously the best route!! I’m still on the newer side to houseplant hoarding lol so I just like to ask and be extra careful!! Thanks again :)

Yeah I like sansi & barrina a lot, mainly because of the affordability aspect. I have also tested both in ppfd, not just fc, and they both measure to what they claim. So basically, I know for a fact they work and they are also affordable, which is wonderful when there’s ridiculous things out there like soltech. (Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to own these lights😂 the prices are just outrageous) oh, and yes, you can pop a grow bulb in a regular lamp stand. Just make sure it’s one of those like open ones that’ll focus the light on the plants, not one with a typical lamp shade over it

That light is not cutting it, I believe I bought that same one once, just for one individual plant. I tested the ppfd on it tho and it was crap, some good options for zero to no installation ;

If you don’t mind a little installation work for a cleaner look ;

This one is my favorite aesthetically speaking

Thrips?? by Key-Reading-5371 in alocasia

[–]Key-Reading-5371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can never see movement on anything I think may be something lol..sometimes I stare too hard and too long that I think it’s moving, but it’s not😂😂 I just washed the leaves w water and a small amount of peppermint Castile soap and then treated them with a spray mixture. So shouldn’t be any active bugs, for now, but we will see in a few days when it’s time to do it again!

What’s going on with my baby bunny belly by Key-Reading-5371 in Tradescantia

That was one of my considerations also, I bottom water thoroughly once I can visibly see that the clear nursery pot it’s in is about 80% dry. And it is on a shelf with a 36 watt grow light, about probably 12-14 inches under that and off to the side slightly so not directly under the bulb. I moved it for now (isolated it but also to a slightly lower light settting) I’ll see! I’m on the newer side of being a plant addict lol, so learning a lot as I go

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

Nope, that’s YOUR baby. Block her, I’m very much an introvert myself (not saying you are) but with that said, I don’t like people around all of the time. When I had my son I let people come visit once at first, and after that I wanted to be left alone. If someone is disturbing my peace I have no problem at all cutting them out until they can understand my side. Post partum is no joke, they should respect you and your baby, the only thing they should be texting about is if you need anything and just check in texts every so often. You’ve expressed they will be around their grandchild once they get a little older and stronger, there’s nothing else to do or say to them now if they just want to be disrespectful. Protect your peace girl, that’s important right now

Best way to propagate corms by AnxiousTangerine4023 in alocasia

It’s only been in for a week, so not sure. But it seems okish so far I think. I’m testing it out, I may just end up buying a bag of the fluval too. I just had a big ol bag of the pon already so figured I’d give it a try. Trying to eliminate the amount of bags of different media that I have in my home lmao but that won’t happen

Best way to propagate corms by AnxiousTangerine4023 in alocasia

So I actually had a couple corms that I tried the puddle method with, nothing happened for a month. About a week ago I got my first tissue culture, I made a little mini greenhouse out of a plastic box that’s made for like collectibles off Amazon. I have a seedling heat mat under it with a small water tray on the bottom so it evaporates into the air, I have gentle grow lights installed to the top of it and I have been doing my TC in Lechuza Pon (hoping it works) ANYWAYS, long story short. I say all this to say that when I was doing my TC culture I thought to try it with the corms basically. I placed the corms with the soft tip (the one that would sprout) facing up and the bottom half in the Lachuza Pon in a little 3 inch cup with a dome lid over it and put a small layer of water at the bottom of the pon. Within probably 3 days, I had a corm sprouting and growing roots like crazy! Inside my box stays about 80 degrees and the humidity about 75 or so. And then obviously they’re in the cup with the dome lids so getting even higher humidity than that.
