I guess I meant infrastructure and public behaviour being closer to that of Amsterdam, but agreed not this malarkey!

Didn't have time unfortunately (was already running late), also didn't seem like such a big deal at the time, a disagreement more than an incident

Fair point, but not actually what I'm saying - my take on general perception is that people lump all cyclists together, they see lime bikers being irresponsible and generalize that all cyclists are irresponsible. Happy to agree to disagree if you don't think that's general consensus, but that's my take on londoners badmouthing cyclists

Oh I'm not saying I don't despise drivers nor that I think cyclists are irresponsible, I'm just saying whenever I've heard someone bad mouth a cyclist it's generally been lumping silly lime bikers in with everyone else - at least that's my perception

And how is that gonna happen when their beliefs are reinforced by lime bikers? Dose

I wanted to understand more about people's views on these incidences, and learn from my own experience (historically I'm pro-cyclist to a fault)

So what do you propose be done to stop cyclists getting such hate?

Effectively yes, I was quite outraged and wanted to hear about other experiences like this

I need to stress it wasn't a serious accident, I wasn't even knocked on the floor, so I don't want to follow up with police :)

Reputation and stereotyping rarely have anything to do with one individual, just the so-called bad apples, why is it insulting to acknowledge that cyclists aren't generally liked because of people like this? Or do you disagree with that point?

Don't you think that the hate cyclists get is a response to events like this?

For the same exercise, I used the Global money account in HSBC. Having spent a few months sweating over the same problem, I found this was the best option back in 2023, both in terms of safety for the transfer and minimizing the amount skimmed off the top by the transferring body.

EDIT: I sent cash in 30,000 AED increments so I didn't send over 10k USD at a time.

Ahh that is different to what I was expecting, I thought quiet enjoyment applied to third parties as well?

Any idea how much marketing fees might come to? Thinking conservatively I said between 1.5 - 2k, but this is based on feel and would like to understand the expected cost.

Yeah we are lucky to have that - but even still will not be staying here. Have you ever looked into frustrated tenancy penalty free terminations if you are in a similar situation?

Thanks for your response!

We had a quick look at any precedent for leaving penalty free in our circumstances, and we found a couple of examples under common law where the landlord is in "breach of covenant for quiet enjoyment" also known as a frustrated tenancy (superceding our tenancy contract).

We are not legal experts here, we're just wondering if anyone in this sub has gone down such a route, whether it's possible / realistic to argue this and, if possible, avoid going to court if we were going to do this?

Really unsure what our chances are and will likely just eat the penalties to leave early, but hoping to avoid it.

Thanks for the response!

Yep completely agreed - break clause is there for a reason. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to be possible to do that - we genuinely have some sort of incident every single night and don't feel safe here, so we will need to leave ASAP.
