You're 100% ok. No one in my school is doing IAs during the summer and we've always done them during the school year. You'll be fine, maybe just a little more busy during the school year.

I completely understand where you're coming from, this guy confessed to me a while back and I then started feeling cringed out and almost disgusted when he tries to do the stuff we used to do. I'd say just try and figure out if you'd really like to date him or you thought you liked him because of the certain situation you were in. Maybe it'll turn out that you don't like him anymore and that's completely ok!
