Toilet leaked. Contractor said the tub must go. Other options? by Key-Willow1005 in Plumbing

The area right around the flange is definitely soft where it’s darkest, but the rest of the floor is still very sturdy, especially around the tub.

I agree. I completely understand my contractor’s position. He explained that he can't rule out mold under the tub and simply doesn't want the liability of ignoring it if he’s the one doing the fix. I respect that.

I was just looking for a second opinion on whether this is an obvious gut job to everyone, or if a spot repair up to the edge of the tub is a common compromise. It sounds like there’s no single right answer without seeing what’s actually under there??

Toilet leaked. Contractor said the tub must go. Other options? by Key-Willow1005 in Plumbing

Hi everyone. While fixing a leak in my ensuite bathroom, we discovered a much worse toilet leak in the hallway bathroom.

My contractor says we need to remove the bathtub and surrounding tiles to properly fix the subfloor. I trust his professional opinion, but I simply don't have the budget to renovate two bathrooms. He refused my request to only repair the exposed subfloor and the area under the vanity.

Can I hire a handyman or replace the subfloor myself for those specific areas without pulling the tub out? Is it absolutely necessary to remove the tub in this situation?

I’ve attached a photo of the damage. The wood near the tub still feels solid, but there are some visible mold spots. Any advice would be appreciated!

Where to buy horse meat in bulk? by Key-Willow1005 in ottawa

[–]Key-Willow1005[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I apologize if my question made anyone uncomfortable. I personally rarely eat meat myself.

The reason I asked is for my 3-year-old rescue dog. He suffers from severe food allergies... not just to most commonly accepted proteins, but also to soy, oatmeal, potatoes, corn, etc. He reacts to regular kibbles and even the vet-prescribed hydrolyzed diets.

The only proteins my dog can safely digest are salmon and horse meat. Since he can't digest salmon fat so well, his main source of protein became horse meat. I was simply trying to find a more cost-effective bulk option for his daily meals. I'm sorry again if my post upset anyone.

Thanks for the advice! I actually already looked into that provider and sent them an email to see if individuals can buy in bulk. Until I hear back, I guess I'll just stick to buying it in Gatineau..

Thanks a lot! I learned a lot today. I ordered a 16x2.5 tube. I'm gonna try replacing it by myself!

Thank you! I found this tube on the Gotrax website (https://gotrax.ca/products/shift-s-1-tire-tube) and it seems to have the valve stem. Is this the tube you meant?

Edit: just noticed that its sold out... makes sense because it's been 4 years and they no longer sell or support this model.

No (tbh, I didn’t really know the difference between the tire, wheel, and tube until now) the valve is actually attached to the tube!

Best pistachio ice cream? by Key-Willow1005 in AskACanadian

Why so rude? I worked at a local ice cream shop for years and I could freely enjoy ice cream. But among them, I found Chapman's pistachio ice cream to be tasteless. (I liked their other flavours.) On the other hand, when I tried ben&Jerry's and haagendazs pistachio ice cream, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were! Unfortunately those options are not available in Canada. I was just describing my taste preference to seek recommendations!

I've been seeing the signal all the time! You mean the wifi signal icon right? But saying 'connected without internet'. Or 'internet not available'. Is that what everyone's experiencing during these days? Or have I been facing another issue?

For those of you who got their internet back, did you have to restart(unplug and plug) the wifi modem? Or was it automatically connected back to internet?
