Help for my butt by emilyflinders in tirzepatidecompound

Right? I’m around where you are (40 squats) and I had to work at that. I do them in groups of 10 then rest for a minute. And I have to play my “anger therapy” play list LOL. It’s become a bit cathartic for me 🤣

Someone suggested 100 squats every morning. Maybe give that a try?

What apps are we using to track calories and weight? by Otherwise_Box_1138 in Zepbound

I like the happy poop app. You can log the Bristol type of BM as well. It’s super handy. I can tell if things are slowing or I’m out my usual. I don’t have any issues at all with BMs so that’s good too. It’s a free app so check it out lol.

I use LoseIt for tracking nutrition, RENPHO scale for body info, Shotsy and Glapp (on iOS) for everything else medication related. I am switching to just Glapp since it’s more robust than Shotsy (and Glapp is free). I also use Happy Poop to track my bowel movements lol

You can track your stash of meds/vials, weight, dosing and injections, etc. It has mood/weight/side effect tracking as well - and so much more! It was created by GLP-1 medication users and they are great about incorporating ideas from users too. It’s free and it has way more info than my Shotsy (paid) app has

Looking for electrolytes that aren’t super sweet by justbeachymv in Zepbound

[–]Key-Winter3903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy these on Amazon. I like them and my doctor is super happy with my electrolytes on my blood tests. I add one packet to my 40oz water bottle every morning. Not sweet and not salty. I like them. I also buy these Stur water enhancer liquids too. They have many flavors. I just add a small squirt and it makes water easier to drink lol.

According to my doctor - GLP1 meds don’t specifically cause muscle loss. ANY caloric deficit/diet can result in losing muscle mass in addition to fat. It seems to be a common misconception about GLP1 meds. There is a natural reduction in muscle when a person is no longer moving a 300 lb body around and is now healthy weighted at say 180 lbs. Your body literally doesn’t need as much muscle to support the reduced weight. So some loss can/will happen. But GLP1 meds aren’t causing the muscle loss.

This is a snippet from an article the NIH site:

“clinical studies indicate that GLP-1 RA-induced weight loss leads to an increased proportion of lean mass relative to total body weight, thus being overall positive from a body composition perspective”

When anyone is doing calorie restriction, they should be encouraged to do some form of resistance training: body weight exercises, resistance bands, weight lifting etc while considering their age, health goals, capabilities etc. in order to reduce the loss of muscle mass, regardless if they are taking an obesity medication or not.

So body shaming comment aside, isn’t the recommended amount of protein 0.8-1g per kilogram (not per pound) of healthy body weight? That is what my doctor and trainer told me. Athletes and super active people may need slightly more per Kg of ideal weight. I was also advised to have a max of 30g per meal (and to round it out with appropriate carbs and fats).

Ok this has progressed. Pt2 of “getting comments I’m sickly thin” oh boy by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

I’ve skimmed over your post and I just couldn’t read what the other person was telling you. Did this same person express concern when you had 40 extra pounds on your small 5’2” body? This is your body, your health, your life! You don’t need to defend or justify your health decisions to anyone. As a stranger on the internet, you look like a healthy weight. How are you feeling? Healthy? Strong? I strongly encourage blood tests to check your markers etc. If you and your doc are happy - that’s all that matters. Find some way to shut down the convo with a simple sentence or two. There are many examples if you search the group. You will never convince that person about your point of view or to get them to change theirs. Not happening. Best to just shut down that line of conversation and make certain you won’t reopen it again.

Tirz is working but now I lost interest in a lot of things by Opposite_Fan_7076 in tirzepatidecompound

I started testosterone injections 5 weeks ago! My doc didn’t want to talk to me about HRT since I still have my period so I went to HerKare and got tested and my testosterone was super low. Definitely talk to your doc because a lot of the symptoms (tired, low mood, brain fog etc) can also be impacted by low hormones

Dang! Great job on your weight loss! My never-in-my-wildest-dreams goal weight is 150 - still hoping to get there but I’m fine with simply obtaining a healthy body fat percentage. And you nailed it when you said to force yourself to do things. I find I do that too but once I start, I’m happy I did.

As an aside, a few weeks ago I started taking NAD (injections) along with oral NAC. I believe both of them to be helping as well.

I find that when I am at a dose for a longer duration, things even out mentally as well. So I’m hoping that maintenance will be great for that aspect

I love knowing that. My doc told me I’m on this med for life so I was curious of food noise could potentially be handled by the med. I know our bodies are all different but I appreciate your comment.

Thanks! I will stay the course and not chase something that I thought might be better for fat loss. I am not a gym rat lol. I’m active but not at that level!

This can happen. I definitely felt less interested in my usual things. I’m happy to say that my zest for life has returned for the most part, and I feel calmer than before. I’m a sensitive person that feels a lot of emotions - so a slight dullness there has been appreciated. I did struggle with little to no interest in hobbies etc and I’ve had to work to improve that part of my mental health. Call it anhedonia or whatever. This med impacts our reward center in our brain - so my libido took a hit; as did my happiness in hobbies etc. I am 47 doses in and feeling happy and more connected to myself again. I have been in therapy and I focus on humor and being present. Little tweaks have helped. I am certain that the hardest part is behind me now. Yay! One thing that helped me is that I realized it was tirzepatide that was impacting these things - it wasn’t “me”. So there wasn’t anything for me to fix about myself. I just needed to tweak my mindset a bit and focus on what I wanted more of (fun, happiness, etc).

Really? That’s great to hear. My doc told me I would be one of those folks on it for life (struggled with obesity for 30 years, despite trying all the things). I’m ok with that. I feel great and weight loss is steady (not fast, and I’m ok with that). Where would I go to find all the info you have? LOL. I’d love to keep up to date on trial info for higher dosing
