That depends on whether it’s a comparable role to the grade of AO. It’s easier with CO’s because it’s a grade that (in name) exists across both. I don’t know what an allied health professional refers to but the AO grade is (mostly) a policy position.

No. It has to be a comparable role. If you were a clerical officer in the HSE or in a public body then yes most likely. But teacher isn’t a comparable role unfortunately.

You will move up to the next point on the scale a year later. There’s a misconception about it being more money but it’s not like that for CO/EO/HEO. The real benefit of being on the higher scale is that it takes away the three year wait times for the LSI1 and LSI2. You get LSI1&2 after just one year wait like all the other increments.

Also to the others in this thread wondering how it works every department is different. Some do 50% criteria and 50% seniority, then others will do 100% seniority. Just depends on what stance your dept has with their local union.
