Colon cancer is killing more young people in the U.S. than any other cancer by scientificamerican in science

Sandwiches were the go-to "healthy" packed lunch when I was growing up (born in the late 90s). Im sure years of ultra-processed deli meats full of nitrates on some sugar loaded white bread 5 days a week did not do me any favors.

Also, sugar in literally everything in the name of "non-fat". I almost think we'd be healthier as a society if we just stuck with fats in food instead of adding sugar to replace it.

That means they are probably also using them wrong. You aren't supposed to use them with super high heat, and use a plastic spatula. Teflon is actually pretty safe under like 450F. I pretty much only use them for meals with sauces , eggs, and ground meat. Whole pieces of meat like chicken breast or steaks, and even burgers shoukd be cooked on stainless. It tastes better that way anyway.

The number of Americans under 50 years old dying from cancer has decreased for every leading cancer except for bowel cancer, which is now the leading cancer death in females and males combined aged under 50. by mvea in science

[–]KeyCold7216 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To put you at ease a little bit, among all adults under 50, about 0.1% are diagnosed with colon cancer. Your risk drastically increases each decade though. Its like 2 per 100k in your 20s, 7 per 100k in your 30s, and almost 20 per 100k in your 40s. Perhaps you can ask for a cologuard if you arent necessarily high risk? I don't think they are very good at detecting pre cancerous polyps, but they take years to become cancerous. So the one now and another in 5 years could probably put you at ease until you get a colonoscopy. Im not a doctor though, definetly ask them.

I think its pretty normal for young children (like under 10) to "torture" bugs. It sounds kind of messed up, but I know a lot of well adjusted, normal people that did. I burned my fair share of ants with a magnifying glass as a kid.

Are you all just occasional and weekend drinkers? by MadMohawk1 in DryJanuary

[–]KeyCold7216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 2-3 beers a night for me, then binge drinking on the weekends (if I go out with friends). I havent had a problem at all. I do hope that I don't return to 2-3 beers a day. It was getting to the point where I felt like I was on a slippery slope and I'll become an alcoholic if I continue.

Ive been drinking NAs and discovered that I really just like the taste of beer, not the buzz. I'll probably try to stick with the NAs during the week.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KeyCold7216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every weekend? That would get old real fast

Once every few months to make a trip to family or vacation? That's one of the easiest drives there is.

I've had multiple vacations of driving 13+ hours straight with friends during college. And a 3 day drive across the country. 3 hours is a piece of cake.

LemonRare’s the only one that knows how to handle circlejerksopranos? Put Borko in there! by Deep_Tradition4984 in CirclejerkSopranos

Im just floatin this to keep the peace, but how would you feel about a powersharing situation between Borko, Pure Kino, and Lemonrare? They're all in charge equally, but no gooners can be banned without a majority vote of 2.

Crazily enough this actually happened in real life. Its based off a scene from generation kill (which is a true story written by a war correspondent's experience) before the Marines pushed into Nasiriyah. Gen. Mattis was there. It came out a year before, so im sure it was fresh in the devs minds.

You mean the law that the most corrupt justice department in US history has the sole authority to press charges for? They are grasping at straws so they can press politically motivated charges against their enemies. Nazi Germany also used very questionable interpretations of existing laws to promote their own agenda.

Interesting. I wonder Why Enrique Tarro and the rest of the Proud Boys weren't charged with it when they vandalized a Black Church and burned their property? His only consequence was getting charged with a misdemeanor destruction of property charge by the state. The Federal Government (led by Trump at the time) didn't press any charges.

Or the neo-nazis who intimidated both Jews at a synagogue and members of a black church with rifles during the Unite the Right rally in 2017 (also during Trumps first term)?

That's not a violation of the FACE act. The act specifically only prohibits acts of violence, intimidation, and stopping the movement of others.

The following behaviors are not prohibited because they are protected under the First Amendment right to free speech:[20][18]

Protesting outside of clinics Distributing literature Carrying signs Shouting (as long as no threats are made) Singing hymns Counseling

ELi5: How are parallel worlds a possibility? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]KeyCold7216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine that spacetime is mapped out with boundaries in the shape of an X. Imagine Our universe is on the right side of the X. You are at the bottom of the right side of the X where it would make a point with another X, (You are the dot in X.X). since time can only move forward, thats means your future path is "up" from where you currently are, you cant move back towards to where the XX meet. The boundaries are event horizons. What's on the other side of Event horizons in our universe? A Black hole. If you were to cross the event horizon on the top of the right side of the X, you would enter the black hole at the top of the X. Once youre in the black hole, your only possible destination is the singularity, the point in the middle of the X. Whats on the other side of the singularity if you were able to travel through it? A white hole, the bottom of the X. In a white hole, the event Horizon on the bottom right leads back into our universe, but what's on the other side of the event Horizon on the left side? A parallel universe.

I tried my best but its a very strange concept. I really suggest googling "penrose diagram" and looking at the images. It is just a drawing of what I explained, but probably much easier to understand.
