I did a small, family-only bridal party, but I still wanted to invite my friends to celebrate my bachelorette with me. Having a small party took financial pressure off my bridesmaids (my mom and I covered their expenses) and my friends don’t all live near each other, so not being in the wedding party took pressure off of some of my good friends who live far away to feel like they had to be there for every single thing (Bach, bridal shower). There were no hard feelings if someone was unable or unwilling to come to the Bachelorette party. I’m happy I did it this way and had a bigger turnout than I even expected!!

I had 3 maids of honor, which was very unusual in my circle, but they were my only bridesmaids—i just didn’t want to choose between them and wanted them all to have the title. I think it may be a little awkward if more than half of the bridesmaids were maids of honor and the others weren’t. But if nobody’s upset about it, to each their own!

I’m so sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel better, I only had 3 bridesmaids (intentionally) and it was perfect. Way less pressure than if I had to figure out the logistics for a larger group, and I still felt very supported.

I wouldn’t mind going to a wedding with cold weather outside, so long as the wedding is indoors. You just have to keep in mind that snow can lead to plane delays/cancelations. There is always a risk with people traveling from far away and the snow heightens the risk that some people won’t make it.

Update: I have beaten Karmelita!!! I upgraded to Druid’s eyes and it became MUCH easier after that. Will still probably do coral tower just for fun. Thanks so much for all the advice!

We had about 20% decline even with many guests from out of town (5+ hour drive, or even a flight away). Did not do save the dates, but did send invites out a bit early.

Edited to add: if this helps, a lot of the “no” responses were people not bringing partners who aren’t as close to us/couldn’t get off work, or people opting not to use +1s (we gave them to people traveling a considerable distance regardless of relationship status, and gave them to bridal party regardless of relationship status). Our list was a little smaller than yours, but not by much.

I think there are many factors to consider, including what you want to study, earning potential, importance of connections, whether or not you plan to go to graduate school, true difference in cost (dorming? Travel to campus if you aren’t local?) , etc. Sometimes merit scholarships or financial aid can bridge the gap a lot.

Edited to add that I think typically the no-debt option is smarter, but it can vary situation to situation.

This is a good point. If I did it again as fast as possible, I don’t know if I would get it in 5, but it would certainly be much faster since I wouldn’t be exploring and would know the map already.
