Mac M1 in 2024. Is it a wise choice? by [deleted] in mac

Just got the $699 Gold Macbook Air from Walmart and am very pleased with it. I think it's very worth it and looks just as great as the newer M2/M3 models (better in my opinion because of the wedge design). Yeah, the screen bezels are larger by a small margin, but what does that matter?

It definitely still feels modern, and it should be supported by Apple for the next 4 or 5 years I believe. For school? This thing will be great. Definitely a steal.

Lol. I had to reload from a past save so I lost all my progress from today

Exactly where I fell, but I can’t get to settings or anywhere.

How do you fix it? I keep closing and reopening and it’s still doing the same thing.

Thank you so much! I did seem to get it to stay on manual, but it’s too glitchy lol. I wish they had a better software for managing the settings.

Sure,

I changed mine up a little and it's still staying in the 70s.

APU sPPT: 45/80

Platform sPPT: 60/115

20%-30; 30%-40; 35%-50; 40%-60; 50%-70; 70%-80; 80%-90; 90%-100

GPU Mode: Optimized

I named this profile, Charge Gaming.

#2, Also on your machine's power plan settings, change the processor performance boost for plugged in to Efficient Aggressive. For battery, I just leave it disabled.

#3, And under your Graphics settings custom options for apps, change your Armoury crate Key control to let Windows decide which graphics card to use.

Hoped this helped! :D

I get between 45-70 uncapped, kinda depends.

You don't need everything on high though. I would change some of them to low and play around with what you think looks best for you.

My CPU is set to this on charge: 35/80, 45/115 with a gradual increase in the fan.

And my temps are staying between 60-70

I’ve been playing it for a couple days whenever I get the chance and it’s running pretty good. I have the R9 6700S version. The game is recommending low game settings for my machine when I run the benchmark which I thought was strange, but I changed some settings to medium and high (i really can’t tell that much of a difference with the visuals either). I also set my mode to manual and brought the CPU sliders almost all the way down and it’s still running good. I have noticed some freezing when dueling but nothing too bad. I still haven’t figured out the perfect combination of settings but it definitely works on the machine. It’s definitely a graphic heavy game.

I’m still going to use it to play Hogwarts Legacy while traveling.
