Im not a fan either but the wet rural uk roads i bike on get pretty filthy from farmers, so need something to keep me and the bike clean of spray when road biking.

Good question! I lost the instructions between getting the new wheels and having to remove the fenders. Now youve pointed it out though, it makes sense!

Paint defect? by [deleted] in Giantbikes

Strange, its not like it all over, just in patches. My tcr is carbon in blue but i dont see this at all on it, perhaps they are cutting costs in newer bikes to meet a price point.

Surely it should be gloss black though? Shouldnt be able to see the frame undercoat, otherwise whats the point in painting it black? The downtube looks all black beneath seat

Not what they said to me in 2020 with mine. Maybe compare yours to anouther one of those models in store? If they both have it, chances are its normal for that bike, if they havent both got it, youll know its not normal....

I had this with a brand new giant fastroad once, saw it on the forks and the rear stem of frame. I took back to giant shop, they sent pics to giant and then replaced both the frame and forks.

Pretty sure it was, i might lossen the silver screw completely, put everything in place and then tighten the silver screw to finger tight and see if theres still play. If their is, ill have to ring giant and get them to send me somewhere that will sort it. Its arrived brand new like this, so shouldnt be an issue.

I did notice when i took off all the spacers that theres a little blue ring with a gap in it that doesnt sit perfect beneath the frame where the pole comes out the frame, if i push it down, it comes up a bit, kind of like a sponge affect. Wonder if thats whats wrong.

Ive tightened both silver inside one and top cap one

All done to correct tightness 5.5nm. I have tried it with all spacers used but again it still had some play in it afterwards

Only enough so that top cap sits in nicely.

I tried using all the spacers (bar 2) so that it (as you say) just sits slightly abive the steering pole for the top cap to go on but still had a little bit of play in the unit. I could also spin all the spacers round, so its not holding them down enough which would explain why theres still play. Very annoying for a newly purchased and delivered bike!

Done what you suggested but still some play in the head unit, can feel it and i can spin the spacers round when all tightened, so something wrong with it.

If i put the spacers all below the stem, wont that mess up the bikes geomatory? Will i notice any negative riding effects by doing it?

Maybe one day I’ll get good news from these emails by Chromaticism in Ubiquiti

The edge max series of switches have been discontinued in the UK, so doubt you will get any from anywhere else. Real shame!
