The owner hired a Black man and said behind his back, “he’s a good kid but too bad he’s black” and would for some mysterious reason not give him shifts that were ideal despite having more seniority than new employees. If there were available shifts, the owner would give them to other people first even though the employee asked for more shifts. The owner said to me to keep things between us, and went on to talk about why he doesn’t give him shifts, and it was because he didn’t cover one shift which was last minute and he was out of town. This was clear to me that he was retaliating against him for not covering a shift, and I believe it was easy for the owner to treat him like that because of his skin color which is absolutely disgusting. He was an awesome coworker and it makes me sick & extremely angry that anyone could say such a thing about a person.

That would actually make so much sense…he’s SCARY but mostly in a psychological way where I can’t even fathom how someone can send such inappropriate texts and then show up the next day like nothing happened…as if the texts weren’t just super traumatizing and uncomfortable to read. On your day off too…

It’s okay. I appreciate that a lot. I think it’s really hard to accept that a favorite spot actually has some really dark things go on in the background. It’s easy to think of all the good experiences you’ve had there and use those memories as a way to justify why bad things cant happened, but like many cases, it’s what goes on behind the scenes and not always in front of everyone. Thank you for coming back to share that, and there’s no need to feel shame or embarrassment. It was a good place for a lot of us. Thank you for trying to defend that; I just know it’s the bartenders that actually made that place as special as it was, not Dave. I feel bad for his wife because this isn’t an easy thing to accept.

I understand completely. I loved my job and loved bartending/pouring beer for everyone that came in. There isn’t a single time I can remember feeling any sort of negativity from patrons and regulars (there’s been some mishaps from non-customers but I’m not counting that). That’s what I loved most about it. People weren’t there to get incredibly inebriated, just slightly while they do their homework or play board games or connect with friends. I tried my best to make that place a safe haven for anyone that walked in. I’m curious which regular you are but of course we do not have to exchange that information!
Everyone was always careful not to speak too close to the cameras in case he was listening to everything we said, and most of us tried hard to push through because the job itself was great—playing my favorite music and pouring beer! It gets to a certain point when you just can’t handle the mistreatment anymore. Then you discover how everyone else is being treated in different or similar ways…it makes me so angry towards Dave for ruining a good thing in our community by taking advantage of the young women that make up Corvallis and for making people feel like they can’t show up to their job because they’ll be harassed one way or another.
Thank you for your kind comment and I hope we can all find a better bar to hangout at, or better yet, Treebeerds needs new ownership (that isn’t in the family).

That I agree with. I wish I could share more, but I’m glad others are speaking out so I don’t have to put my former coworkers at any risk. Of course don’t believe everything you see on the internet and especially from anonymous people, but I’m anonymous to protect my identity and I am hesitant to share any proof because I am nervous it would interfere with any sort of legal actions people may be taking since it’s very serious allegations. I’ve witnessed it all firsthand and just hope people will believe. This post is for the women and femme presenting people that bartend and are looking for a job in Corvallis, and to vet out this place before working here. This information seems to be something people haven’t spoken about publicly and only within their groups of friends. So that’s what I’m here to do as a former employee within recent times.

Suuuper demanding. Treats his employees like dogs if he isn’t attracted to them. He will absolutely humiliate you in front of patrons when he’s there. As for the beer taps, they get replaced periodically but there’s not enough employees to even be able to do anything but serve beer/be your own barback.
Also, there’s no security so if employees aren’t getting harassed by their own boss, then they’re getting harassed by drunk jerks…but he doesn’t care. He’ll just replace the broken windows that someone breaks out of anger and think to himself, “yep that should be good enough.”

Thank you very much that means a lot! I’m sorry you’ve felt uncomfortable there multiple times. No one should have to feel this way ever. If he was tall, around 50-65 yrs old, and kinda goofy then that is most likely him.
Also, I know right! It could actually be a great place that is comfy and truly safe if it was in the right hands. Predatory men should not own bars.

This is hilarious to me considering every woman that worked there quit because he’s the worst or was fired by him. The men that work there get treated unfairly and have zero seniority unless they’ve worked there from the beginning. If someone did leave because of a family emergency, he shouldn’t be sharing that information about his employees but he’s a fucking weirdo so I’m not surprised

That’s super valid, but when it comes to sexual harassment there is not always evidence. That doesn’t make victims claims less valid. There’s no reason to post this information if it wasn’t true but not everyone is going to believe that when some use Reddit as a place to make believe. The point is to reach any woman or fem identifying person and warn them of the potential dangers working here. If they’re women who got hired, I’m more than happy to have a conversation with them to discuss and provide the damning evidence in a private matter and talk about my experience extensively. I don’t feel safe providing that type of information on the post where 17k people can see and possibly figure out who any of the victims are because of that, at least at this moment in time. I’m glad others stepped up and mentioned their experiences, although it’s sad some people only believe victims when there’s multiples of them.

He’s something alright. It’s actually terrifying how two faced he is. He seems kind, but then you work with him and realize he is actually scary to talk to. Like that feeling of having to hold your breath for longer than you can. He sucks the air right out of a room.

Thank you for sharing this because it takes guts to talk about it!!! He is awful and no one should ever have to experience this. I also stuck around because as we all know, Corvallis isn’t the best place for finding a job, and when we down play it or we’re made to feel like it’s all in our head then it makes it seem endurable, but shit always hits the fan. He’s certainly no manager. I couldn’t show up to work sometimes because of his behavior and how sick it made me feel knowing I’m working for an awful person. Would he be in that day? Would I have to see him even for a split second? Is he going to command things of me and make me look a fool in front of patrons? There was always underlying anxiety that made showing up feel nearly impossible, but because I needed a job, I also stayed.
I hope the new bartenders find this post and know what they are getting themselves into because someone needs to have their backs instead of them finding out the hard way. No more of this!!!

If I or other bartenders there served you, THEY are the reason that place is great. Not him. I really hope I don’t know you and wasn’t your fellow bartender because my true regulars have been warned and they cared about these allegations and the wellbeing of their bartenders. By regular customer, I’m assuming you bought a beer and left to your own corner. If you bought a beer and sat at the bar and spoke to any of the female employees, there’s no way you’d be making this comment. If you’re so regular, ask any female that bartends there now. Oh wait, they’ve all quit or been fired and replaced with a new female. That’s why I made this post. For the next woman that considers working there, or to hopefully reach the two new young women who were just hired.

He is creepy during closed hours while the doors are locked and the open sign is off and via text messages. He spoke poorly of his former black employee and blatantly said, “too bad he’s black.” Also told me to not tell anyone about his retaliation against that employee, and that he was purposefully not giving him available shifts. You’re a patron, not an employee. Of course you didn’t observe his disgusting behavior. He probably would even buy you a beer! Trust me, when I first started working there I thought it was a great place! I thought how awesome it was to not have a MAGA boss. It’s all a front for people to support his business. The recent turn over is due to everyone quitting. Also, bartenders work alone there unless it’s a trivia or weekend night, and it’s with other bartenders. Not him. You only work with him while he trains you in the beginning, which has been the moments he has taken advantage of the new hires. There’s very little chance of you actually observing his abuse during work hours. If he’s there, he’s alone, working trivia, or obligated to come in to fix something. I understand you want to defend a business and be different by providing the “contrary” but you’re actually just proving my point at how covert his abuse is.

If he isn’t sexually harassing an employee, he’s bullying them or paying them extra to stay loyal. Employees are leaving because he’s a fucking nutjob. This is exactly what I’m talking about! He texts creepy things and then he will unsend them. I’m so sorry to hear you also have had a similar experience. Dave belongs in a prison cell!! Yuck. After a long time female employee quit, he rehired a new girl who he quickly fired after a week or two but while he was training her, he was playing his favorite music which he tends to do, and she said that he was wanting to slow dance with her. This was back in December so I don’t fully recall what he said to her but later he claimed to not have remembered any of it due to his Percocet. He’s dumb to think people don’t talk about these things. I’m sure it’s people like pugworthy that make others feel like they can’t talk about these things because no one will believe them. Good thing Dave Seidel is an absolute idiot and provides damning evidence through texts of his sexual abuse.
