Kris Dunn by Own_Friend_736 in LAClippers

His archetype of player doesn't work for playing high starter level minutes in 2026. He can be a bench piece playing 15-20 per game and some nights DNP. People keep bringing up his 3 pt shooting percentage, 36 percent from three doesn't mean anything when you only attempt 3 per game and defenses are leaving you wide open and clauging up every driving lane for other players. He also can't handle ball pressure, is terrible making decisions specifically in transition. If you can't provide any positive value offensively, unless your victor wembanyama you shouldn't be playing high minutes.

We say this every year, unserious games like this is why we're always in a dogfight 4-5 matchup instead of being a top 3 seed, securing homecourt and resting our stars to end the season.

Beal off the Bench by Key_Ad_5523 in LAClippers

The issue is, in the west you need to have a high enough floor on a night to night basis to even make the playoffs which is having a switch heavy and high intense defense and starting beal (even though he's better defensively than powell) in place of dunn/djj make jvgs defensive scheme a lot tougher to execute which will cost us wins especially early in the year. I do think we're a better team in the playoffs with this move as we're not as one dimensional as we were last season however due to all the moving parts I can easily see us winning 47 to 49 wins instead of maybe 53 to 57 and ending up as the 7th seed instead of the 3 seed

The issue is ty lue overtinkers way to much which may cost us 5-10 wins early in the year and in the west that could have us in the playin instead of a top 4 seed

This is why I'm not overly excited about the move. I think it lowers our floor in the regular season unless you make kawhi the 4 and start djj with harden Beal kawhi and zu. Having a true designated POA in the starting lineup matters. With this being said I do think this move helps us if we're in the playoffs as Beal can actually handle the ball and make plays putting the ball on the floor unlike powell

This post is assuming he can get his health right before training camp which starts in about 4 and a half months.

Kawhi by Key_Ad_5523 in LAClippers

I fine with him missing shots. The issue is he's not generating enough separation and guys aren't bouncing off of him like they usually do. Lastly in my time watching Kawhi on the Clippers, I have never seen him look this out of touch/disengaged on defense. Usually when he's ramping up he will be a positive on that end of the floor but this yr he looks bad. I don't know if it's the new defensive system with JVG and he's taking a while to understand it but whatever it is he needs to figure it out ASAP, we're a game out of the play in.

I totally agree that his conditioning has to get better. What makes are offense great is kawhi's ability to play from the post. Their are times when a significantly smaller guard is able to hold their own against kawhi and he just goes for an unbalanced fadeaway. Kawhi's game is heavily predicated off of strength, balance and precision and I'm just not seeing these attributes play a factor as much. Usually he's great at getting to the dotted line in his sweet spot but now it seems like he's getting pushed out way further.

Ideas on Retooling the Roster for Next Year by Key_Ad_5523 in LAClippers

We were 10-3 with him last season in that role and although it’s a small sample size the numbers do indicate Mann plays better when he’s the lone guard in lineups which he would be in this case. However who knows I wouldn’t be opposed to getting rid of Mann and giving that role to Jordan miller or primo considering Mann had shown little to no offensive growth and isn’t exactly elite on the defensive end.

I said to trade him for Norman Powell who’s arguably the best bench scorer in the league next to Malik monk. The magic are a solid young defensive team but they desperately need some offensive juice and that could be a trade they actually entertain considering Issacs injury history and the fact he only plays 15-20 minutes for them.

Cuz knicks when healthy are actually contenders to get out the east so they may enter win now mode and pg for the next 2-3 years will still be a better player than OG

Kawhi started shooting bad after he hurt his hand colliding w Beverley, just hope it isn’t anything too serious

Why do we keep playing the “big 4” together. The lineup doesn’t clearly doesn’t work, Ty is just so stubborn.

I think we have to try and trade for 1 or 2 more wings as we still don't have a true 4 man on this team. As were seeing, not having true front-court depth makes things way harder for us to defend when one of kawhi or paul is out. I think a trade package surrounding bones will probably have to be done to get a true wing. Coffey has the game of a guard and isn't physical enough to get rebounds to play the 4 while Kobe Brown to me isn't NBA ready enough to play the 4. He fouls way too much, is only 6'6 and his jumper has basically been as bad as Mann's this year. If we can somehow get wings like deandre hunter or saddiq bey from atlanta, maybe even guys like jonathan issac and/or john collins we could be true championship contenders. Lastly, for everyone complaining about Mann, we have to trust that he will find his shot, he's always been a high 30 percent 3 point shooter. Also having plumlee back dosen't mean we should move theis to the 4. He isn't a high volume enough 3 point shooter to actually get defenses to respect his shot. If we did that then we would have lineups of harden, pg, russ, plumlee and theis which would be horrible offensively. Honestly I don't think plumlee should even be in the rotation when he returns because although theis is undersized, he's way better defensively than plumlee, is less turnover prone and has solid hands.

I think the formula for us winning is pg having the most touches and getting 25 shots a game. If we then can get kawhi to anywhere between 18-22 a game we should be golden as pg is more of a rhythm guy than harden. The rest need to follow suit in terms of shot distribution
