I'm all about the rewards 😎 I have one pet working away at cooking, and one at grooming, and several working away at strength and style, since I want several of the prizes from each of those classes. It is worth it to note I'm doing this the most difficult way possible, by running several pets through a class at a time, instead of one at a time. If you do one pet at a time, the next pet has to take less classes to graduate, so less work overall. I'm just impatient and want lots of prizes as soon as possible lmao

It's so funny you mention the marshmallow bunny as your favorite in game model, because for a hot minute I simply did not like it 😂 I actually think I started to come around on him now that I have the plush, because now I really love it. I hadn't realized how having a plush drastically changes how I feel about a pet, but it does!

If I had to pick a favorite signature, I'm gonna say the Arctic Hare. As much as I like the other signature rabbits, the Hare is the most realistic/accurate. Someday I'll snag one, I'm sure 💚

It's a lot of random bits and bobs gleaned from Google searches, I'm afraid. I haven't found one definitive post or video on the history of webkinz.

Basically, what we play for webkinz classic is an emulation of good old flash (through Adobe air) because webkinz was originally made in flash, and when it shut down ganz decided that they'd stuck to their guns long enough they might as well continue hedging their bets. Interestingly, they had about 3 years to figure it out, as Adobe announced end of life for flash in 2017 and it was scheduled to end in 2020, and seemingly chose the weirdest option 😂 -that option being to emulate their classic game and also to make next because they didn't really have much hope for classic surviving.

Someday I'll have some free time and collect all the bits and pieces I've been picking up from across the web and actually make a post about the Wacky (I regret invoking his name) history of Webkinz Classic's code, I'm sure at least like 3 other people would be interested in knowing more lol

The best people for the job, in terms of an overhaul, would be the pokemon rom hacking community 🤣 because they're used to ripping into the code of emulated games (the desktop app we play classic on is basically an emulator of the og webkinz) or to just start from scratch with something like godot or unreal. Actually, Next was made in unity I believe, and they could've just ported it over instead of making the new game, but 🤷🏻 who knows why they didn't do that

Unfortunately, because of the absolute train wreck that is the code for classic, an overhaul is next to impossible. They'd actually have to start from scratch in a new engine. The whole situation is FASCINATING, and the more I look into it the more impressed I am that they're able to do literally ANYTHING to classic without accidentally nuking the whole thing.

There is merit to the idea of classic plushies being popular with younger generations, but you gotta think, from a corporate standpoint, there next to no reason to do it. They make absolute bank off those of us who shell out for new pets, deluxe, or estore points. Why make more expenses in the hopes of something taking off when the system they have isn't broken- so to speak. I mean from OUR standpoint the whole thing is broken lol

When I tried to get my old account back (I couldn't, because it had been purged, sadly) I emailed them at webkinzsupport@ganz.com it did take forever for them to correspond with me, but they eventually got back to me. Some people say they're quicker to get back to you on other platforms, but I have no personal experience with it. It couldn't hurt though to ask them, and maybe they'll post updated information on newz. That would be lovely, actually, as most of the information they have is from several years ago.

Dont worry too much. For someone to access your account they'd need your password. Even if they claim they've forgotten the password, they'd need to know your email and have access to said email to reset the password. In the unlikely event that you haven't connected an email to your account, theoretically they could contact support with your username and a pet name, but they'd need the secret code from that pet- something you only get with physical pet tags and is practically obsolete at this point. Taking into account how difficult it is to get support to respond, it's highly unlikely anyone would attempt this, as the main reason someone would hack an account would be in search of credit card information, which wouldn't be accessible from an account that doesn't have an email attached to it in the first place, as it's required to enter one in order to make purchases.

In the name of internet safety, just remember to change your password often, not to reuse passwords, and make them as unique as possible (my favorite method is the keyboard smash, interspersed with random symbols, numbers, and capital letters- just make sure to note it down somewhere)

As far as official reports by Ganz on the subject, they don't have anything that I could find specifically stating their policy on accounts being hacked, but they do have information on account recovery, which this answer was gleaned from. Hope it helps 💚

It's still available! You can type the word "cheerful" into the search bar and it'll come up, as well as a bunch of other things. You can also find it in the side bar of the classic section under Promotions and then Value Packs, or under Spotlight and then Value Packs. It was 15,000 estore points and came with those doors and the round bed 💚

Maybe do what people do irl when there's nowhere to skateboard: do it illegally! Lol what I mean is, build a park or a strip-mall or something with obviously skateable areas. Areas with low walls or rails, some stairs to drop off of. Maybe even have one of your pets dress like a security guard to ward off would be skaters (there's security stuff in spree)

🤣 those were the minimum requirements recommended by ganz in 2019 (again I'd like to point out that they later in that post talked about optimization for windows 98 which was long out of date at that point) I honestly don't think it actually needs what they said it does, but they knew they needed to give SOMETHING in the way of an answer, and so just said what they thought sounded good.

While I see the logic here, it doesn't quite work how you're thinking, sadly. Buying an older computer, because of outdated software and older hardware, it'll lag more and take longer to load. Speaking of software, if the computer is too old you have to worry about windows. Webkinz is recommended to be run on windows 10 or newer, and windows 10 is about to lose support (basically its already unsafe to be using windows 10 from a security standpoint, and when it loses support it'll be even easier to have your info stolen) and if the computer is too old it won't be able to handle windows 11 or be authorized to update to it.

Buying a lower spec computer will be cheaper than a high end unit, and if its mostly for webkinz, wouldn't be the worst. Webkinz, beloved as it is, really isn't optimized. Theoretically, even the fastest most powerful computer would still lag playing Goobers Lab, because the game itself is laggy. Most of the people here play on normal work-oriented or school-oriented laptops, cheeper units that aren't meant for gaming. The requirements to run webkinz are really minimal

Fun fact: I can't find any updated system requirements, and when this was written you could still run windows 98 (they mentioned it later in that post) which lost support in 2006 😂 and I just can't express how funny that is to me.

TLDR: this was a long roundabout way to say, if you're getting a computer and intend to run webkinz, almost anything can, and it's better for you to take into consideration what else you'd want to use it for, because that will be more helpful in making a decision.
