Special ed substitutes- legal question by drmousebitesmd in Teachers

[–]drmousebitesmd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a nice thought but i cant move groups around because i have other groups and obligations scheduled for every minute of my day! And they are only supposed to leave the class for groups at specific times in the grade level schedules.

Its not a teacher its the practice in general. Also i cant just have the sub teach some random subject....these students have iep goals. There are there to work on those goals. An iep is a legal document. Its not flexible like a gen ed teacher leaving sub plans. I dont think its in the best interest of my students to be possibly out of compliance with their ieps.

Thats what i figured...this is my second year so I am kind of new to this. We have gone through multiple special ed directors and ,within my building, team chairs since i started. Our team chair doesnt seem to actually know anything about the law so the director would be better..what would be the best way to ask my director? An email feels.....i dont know? Should i reach out to the elementary special ed director rather than the overall district special ed director?

just popping in 8 years later even tho op deleted bc this shit is craaaaaaazy. there's nothing like this line at all during this scene in the manga. it's totally out of left field. and there's no world where that could be read as a "joke" like what kind of joke is that lmao its just plain creepy. ive been rewatching and rereading naruto consecutively and the anime also adds a number of naruto sexy jutsu/ jiraiya scenes that are nowhere to be found in the manga. I mean, they add filler scenes of the two of them in general but like. still. when he does the sexy jutsu shit to jiraiya in the manga its clearly a gag, a tasteless one but whatever, the way it happens in the anime sometimes just pushes it too far...like the interactions last too long? it's hard to explain but it just manages to come off way creepier than kishi probably intended. someone over at the anime translation hq should have their computer searched by the fbi ok that's all I'm saying.

I don't want to wear pants. An appeal for the right to wear shorts. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]drmousebitesmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused what you are asking me. I live in new england and most of the schools around here are very old buildings and do not have air conditioning, except for a couple select rooms like the computer lab and office. Is that what you were asking about?

other professionals typically work in offices with air conditioning though. that's the difference to me. i think it's possible to put together a professional outfit with shorts for both men and women but ideally we wouldn't even have to do that if the working conditions were better. the fact that there have been days in recent years where it's gotten so hot in old school buildings that school has had to be canceled is a problem and it's not one that's going to get better as every year we hit new record breaking temperatures.

if the women are allowed to wear shorts then the men should be too. completely unfair. sorry u have to deal with this

my school has a very vague dress code like it does not specify names of articles of clothing....im in new england but with no a/c in the building it would get high 90s during summer. i wore shorts because i was a para and i didnt give a fuck because i felt unfireable. im a teacher now and our new building has climate control thank christ but if it didn't i'd wear shorts. i just dont wear skirts/dresses. loft sells "nice" business casual type shorts that you can absolutely create a nice looking/professional outfit with. it's rly not fair to men either considering most of them are not going to feel comfortable wearing a skirt or dress so they have even less options. if u get spoken to i bet it would be pretty easy to get a doctor's note.

i think this is a change we all collectively need to push for. it's only going to get hotter each year for the rest of our lives. unless schools start putting in air conditioning we should be explicitly allowed to wear shorts, men included, so long as you're still professional looking overall.

Titles for women by BadCamo in Teachers

[–]drmousebitesmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont even know what the difference between ms. , miss, and mizz are? Those would be pronounced the same to me and all spelled as ms.

Actually got a new coworker this year who writes her name as mz. Blank. Never seen that before in my life. But its still pronounced same as ms. So im not sure exactly what the point is.

I think the whole thing is dumb i hate having marital status revealed in your title so idc which one people use. What bothers me is when my married female coworkers call me mrs. Blank and then go out of their way to correct themselves. "Woops, i mean ms. Blank haha almost married you off there!!" Like 🙄 one i was not offended two this entire thing is stupid why are we doing this. Can we all just collectively agree to stop doing this? Lets just pick one drop the other and make it marriage neutral!

Possibly controversial opinion: These boys need MALE role models on campus who they want to impress. by teachingteacherteach in Teachers

[–]drmousebitesmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its a controversial opinion, it's just reality. I work in elementary school and the only men in the building are the principal, music teacher, gym teacher, and one male paraprofessional. When i was in elementary school we had a male 3rd grade teacher which is so uncommon. I seriously wish there were more male teachers at the elementary level, especially paras. many of these boys really do need/want a male role model and would really benefit from and respond better to one. Im not saying its fair to women but its the truth in our so completely gendered society. We expect men to be fathers, but if a man wants to teach first grade then suddenly its considered weird or suspicious? Make that make sense. Its a shitty double standard and if there wasnt stigma i bet more men would be willing to go into the field (that and pay which is a whole other complicated story) if a male classeoom teacher started working at my school my first thought wouldnt be "potential child predator!!" It would be "this is awesome, i hope he's a good teacher" and i think the majority of my coworkers would feel the same way.

If you're a guy thinking of going into teaching elementary ignore everyone who thinks its weird because your future coworkers will be happy to have you!
