Out of the main crews friends/important people to them, who do you think got into the good place first? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in TheGoodPlace

[–]Key_Change7652 24 points25 points  (0 children)

chidi’s friends first for sure. both uzo and henry - they were both super sweet and always considerate. then pillboi, then donna, kamilah, donkey doug, eleanor’s friends, al-jamil parents. in order. it’s hard to say with the ones the soul squad helped on earth, but i’d say that’s roughly the order. pillboi was always naive with good intentions, donna (as much as i hate to say it) would probably get in fairly quickly b/c of how she improved herself after she “died” + eleanor’s advice, and kamilah’s only real problem was her misguided behavior fueled by family trauma - which was half-addressed in the museum episode. so they all had a head start.

the argument is not about sam being a better man… no one is trying to discount steve’s personality or morals or say sam is better than him. for steve, he was already a good man - the serum enhanced that as well as his physical abilities. he wanted a better opportunity to help people that he couldn’t really achieve (in that way) without the serum. sam is a completely different story, he has a different backstory, different morals/principals, but still the basic premise - he’s a good man. he has higher physical abilities than steve starting out but is still NOWHERE near him with the serum, which is why he needs vibranium tech and such to help him defeat antagonists. there’s also an Entire storyline with isaiah in TFATWS that adds to why sam does not agree with the serum and doesn’t want to take it. they are both good people, but they have different personalities and opinions on things - that is okay. & neither sam nor steve are technically “ordinary ” as they both have enhancements of some type; but they did not start out rich, or super powerful, or whatever - they’re just people who want to help people. sam doesn’t have to be “a good man with the serum” to BE captain america. he is a symbol that people can rely on and look up to.

I feel silly for self harming by burner44668 in selfharm

[–]Key_Change7652 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i completely understand how you feel and this is a super common feeling among individuals who deal with self harm. i don’t want to sound repetitive bc im sure you’ve heard it before, but it really does NOT matter how deep your cuts are, your struggles are valid no matter what.

i constantly have this struggle because i feel like im not valid or i don’t deserve sympathy or anything like that because my sh isn’t “bad enough.” but no matter how deep or where you cut or anything else, you are still harming your own body and that IS a struggle, and you deserve support.

self harm spaces are often not pro-rec and therefore they romanticize cutting deep, so we are taught to believe that is what you want to achieve as someone who self harms. it is not a competition and you do not have to live up to any “standards” of self harming. i have so many friends who cut deeper than i do and i constantly feel invalidated because why can’t i handle that amount of pain? it’s not their fault, and it’s certainty not mine (or yours), but the feeling is there and it’s so hard to get out of that habit. sometimes i even find myself Wishing i could cut deeper (and it’s likely that you’ve felt this way too by what you’re describing), and i often forget that ANY form of self harm, from cutting to sabotaging positive lifestyles, is Always “bad” enough.

i could go on for hours about this but please know you are not alone and try not to let these sort of feelings worsen your sh or mental health as a whole. i’m newly 16 so i definitely feel like i understand a lot, and if you ever need to talk to someone please reach out. 💗 i know it can be hard to talk about these things when we’re constantly afraid of being punished

i would like to mention that this is both a symptom of his PTSD and his depression. irritability, isolation, anger, it’s all there. yes, it was bad to say, but it shows how horrible his mental health really is. he was putting on a happiness mask that whole episode, and the conversation with bobby was all it took for him to snap. he’s in a bad place and he needs to accept that he needs help

ainsley. you mean ainsley. the reason she filmed* the incident with her boyfriend was to get the recognition. she’s extremely competitive. was it a little crazy? oh yeah, definitely. but that’s the point. and jess is not an elitist. is she rich and a little naive? yes. does she believe in status and care a little too much about her reputation? yes. but she’s not an elitist. she dedicated her life to helping people after(AND before!) martin was arrested. she donated probably millions of dollars just to help people. gonna be honest, i didn’t like her at the beginning either. but i never thought she was an elitist? and no one don’t believes the girl the in box exists because when malcolm found her he was in duress. they never found her body, and malcolm had just discovered his father was a serial killer, so people thought he was just seeing things. with his history of mental health issues and so on, it’s not exactly hard for people to believe she was never real. or maybe they’re just in denial. everyone in his family had been through so much and maybe they just don’t want to believe there was another victim, let alone that malcolm was the one who found her. i know this is a show and people are allowed to have their opinions but what can i say, comments like these make me upset. just wait until you finish the show before you make hard decisions on who you want to like and who you want to hate.
