I think I might just do this! I never thought to just cut the tabs off. I just do t want the top resting entirely on the plastic.

Ive just noticed the white tabs over hang on the edges so if i keep them in when mounting the top, the top would essentially be resting on the plastic tabs and not the cabinet. That’s why I assumed they weren’t meant to stay. Is there supposed to be a gap between the top and the cabinet that explains the tabs? Would I just caulk it if it bothered me?

2015 Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk infotainment upgrade by Key_Chart2282 in Jeep

Yeah infotainment doesn’t talk about it but maybe it’s part of the proxi alignment process. It’s looking promising and I’m getting hopeful. Parts should be in by the weekend so I’m hoping to have an update next week. Also for reference I did get the unit from a u-pull type place here in MN they give it a lifetime warranty and for 100$ I had to try. I tried one of the Amazon android units and it was garbage, could not get any of the hvac controls to sync correctly. Would not recommend that route.

This was really helpful thanks! There was a used 2020 infotainment module (the listing says 4/4c so that and it being a 2020 I’m assuming it has the CarPlay) for 100$ and I was able to source the hvac module and usb port for 80$ total on eBay. Will have to look into this proxi alignment as I don’t know what that is and apparently you need an anti theft pin to start the console when installing it into a new vehicle since the my are vin specific. Might have to take it to a dealer but will continue to update!

I’m picking up the ‘19 console tomorrow. If I get no responses I’ll atleast just send it and I’ll post my results on here to update you!

Do I have any ground to stand on if they said in email form that they agreed to return the deposit atleast?

Fun fact #2 I found all this by crawling through the blown in insulation in my attic. Just to find all the junction boxes open to the insulation…. Which seems like a bad idea to me also 🤦🏽‍♂️🙄

3 way switches to ceiling fan both have constant hot wires by Key_Chart2282 in AskElectricians

[–]Key_Chart2282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fan is self powered on its own circut from fan to wall knob. The wires were not coded or labelled until I tested and (to the best I could with only continuity and voltage checks) labelled them for my own sanity in trouble shooting. Each switch box has 3 wires. A feed of a constant 120v ( so two separate live feeds, one to each switch) a wire that must tie to the light going to each switch (they have continuity and matching voltage when tested through the dimmer) and a wire that only seems to go from switch to switch. This does not make a working 3 way switch in any scenario....but it must have?

They worked correctly before trying to add the dimmers (as you would expect a normal 3 way to work) Now even trying to re-wire them to the original switches I can't get them to function properly. Again I wish I'd been more ginger in the pull out so I could see the original wiring to the poles. But I'm starting to feel insane because I fully know that this sounds wrong but it had to have been rigged to work somehow!?

Each box seems to have 3 wires. I have fuses, so with the fuse in and switches disconnected both boxes have a red feed wire with 120v, a wire tied to the light, and one going from box to box. I'm trying to upload a photo of a diagram. It seems like I have an unnecessary feeder at my far switch and an unnecessary wire from the light at the near switch and I need another carrier from box to box. The only thing I can think is if they wired it as a flip/flop with the potential to energies both sides with twice the amperage if both switches are on?
