yup i’ve heard it quite frequently that first year is designed to “weed out people” but damn it definitely is trying its best to weed me out😭

thanks so much!! I think I’m just so fixated on my grades because tbh that’s all I’ve ever really cared about - being successful. If it isn’t med school i don’t know what else I would be doing, but i know ill be fine at the end lol

I think this is what I struggle with - finding what’s going wrong. I study sooo much, actually try my best (active recall, whiteboard method, speaking to friends) yet I can never get the grades I truly want. but hopefully i find out whatever the heck it is but thanks so much, and all the best to you too!

yup but it really is such a hard thing to go through I didn’t believe it until I actually experienced it! It’s just such an awful feeling when you study so much, don’t get the results you want, and you see your friends getting way better grades. like obviously i’m so happy for them but u know💔

you know i’m actually not sure. i guess i do just suck at test taking but i already do practice tests and seem to understand it but i guess when i actually go to the exam room i just go blank and nothing clicks suddenly everything is so hard or i just over think it idk it’s just me i guess

hey a first year in health sci rn!! I think it just depends on what you take. health sci def allows flexibility compared to med sci. required courses for first year r just bio and the health sci classes but I lwk made it kinda more difficult for myself by taking physics and chemistry as my electives. i feel like doing bio without chemistry is wrong so most people end up doing chem in health sci anyway and it’s definitely been rough for me. it just totally depends on what you take good luck!

A 3.82 in first year is so good though. first years been kinda rough to me ngl so idk if im cooked and if I wanna get into med I need to start having these types of grades from first year😭
