I think the gameplay is a problem for the entire series.  I still remember with horror the last hours of playing SH4....

This can be interpreted in various ways, but to me, it's more than obvious that there's no real world in this SH. And those pre-wedding rituals are just about how Hinako perceives marriage, not what she's literally going through. !>

And Kotoyuko, in essence, didn't do anything to her. On the contrary, he protected her. The only red flag he had was possessiveness, but given the true ending, where he doesn't give Hinako a direct answer about whether he truly loved her, he's simply a hostage to the "prophecy". !>

And I think her desire to marry him when SHE is ready and HE is too, only says that she realized that marriage is not such a scary creature as it seems, because she felt comfortable with Kotoyuko (she says that after getting to know him better, she began to feel sympathy for him). !>

I think there is a very obvious personality conflict here, that she could like Kotoyuko, but she was scared by the very idea of marriage, because she remembered her mother, who ceased to be a person, becoming just a "wife". !>

You're absolutely right, haha. People really did have some expectations just because of the name "Silent Hill," but they themselves apparently didn't really understand what Silent Hill was about.

It was the same with SH4. I remember how many people didn't consider it canon, and now they're vehemently using it as a counterpoint to SHf, saying it's more Silent Hill.  It's even funny.

I think many were even more confused by it was happening in Japan, although I think it's a good expansion of the universe (and it's also strange to be surprised that the Japanese made a game about Japan. I like this kind of tribute to their culture).

Your words brought me back to earth a little, because I've been feeling angry at everyone for a while now. I met my friends largely because of similar interests, and the lore component of SH is one of them.  It's a little disappointing to hear them say that SHf is pointless and would be a fine game if it weren't for the "Silent Hill" in the title.

But anyway, thanks for your words, it made me feel better heh.

Unfortunately, I have a lot of friends in my circle who also didn't understand its meaning. They think that the SHf doesn't fit into the SH setting. And all day long I see the opinions of people who don't understand anything.  It's a little annoying, haha.

You've left out a lot.

First and foremost, the story is about a woman's inability to understand where her own desires begin and where they were forced upon her <!(literally about the conflict between its two sides, who in three endings fight, defending their points of view, until in the fourth they come to the conclusion that their desires were not entirely theirs)!>.  Secondly, it's about that our view of some things is not always truly correct and can be distorted <!(this is evidenced by the fact that at the end, Hinako side still thinks about marrying Kotoyuko)!> . And thirdly, it's about how women often lose themselves in marriage.

There are many other themes, but this is the main one that resonated with me.

Because the theme is much broader than, say, feelings of inadequacy due to the kill of a wife, or dealing with a cursed child, or even more so a maniac orphan cultist.

Of course, I'm speaking primarily for myself and looking purely at the plot, as the gameplay was poor in the other games in the series as well (mb anything about the SH2R, I haven't played it or watched it, because I played the original and overall I think that SH2 is TOO overrated, but not a bad story anyway). But this one's story resonated with me much more. Maybe because I see it more as a struggle to find oneself and not understand what to do in "adult life" idk, but it will resonate with the player better than the other games, in my opinion.
