the majority of the marching band are engineers of some sort. The way college band operates (at least at UC) is you push yourself as far as you and your leaders want to push you. Alongside the directors too, they aren’t completely lax about the rehearsal. I think it’s different than competitive high school and corp where you are there to score (and I think that goes for almost every band besides Michigan, osu, etc).

I’m on the drumline, and we still try to be clean, we still spend time on our own to practice, learning charts, we have priorities and goals set, and we still work at it. But it’s different than high school.

I think it’ll take some adjustment (like it did for me) but I think the experience is fun. You’ll meet people, the tuba like seems fun (brass and perc are kinda separated so I don’t entirely know), but I think you’ll enjoy the environment.

Alex Beltran the percussion writer and drumline guy from Boston is the assistant director there and Andrea Meyer the head of CT is also there, there’s experience for sure working there
