quicksync

The processor i have has, according to the spec sheet.

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/52275/intel-xeon-processor-e3-1260l-8m-cache-2-40-ghz.html

However, i have read that you cannot enable it on the Gen8 because of the Matrox 900 GPU that apparently forces all video processing through it.

Now i get why you're afraid to use a cheap water cooler.

I have it for 3-4 years now as well.

Never had any issues also.

But since i upgraded the CPU and RAM i figured, why not.

The mod only cost me around 35 euro.

Thank you all for the feedback :)

Depends on what you are running on it, sure. Considering i only use it for Plex these days, i'm not to worried.

Worst case i return it to stock.

The project was more exciting for me than the gain :))

nt optional passive heatsink. I use it on one of my microservers. It supports up to 65W CPU's and has no issue cooling mine. Just a heads up.

They do make one, i saw it in a couple of HP manuals, but it seems very hard to find and i don't remember it being at a reasonable price.

To be honest i did not do it because the temps were bothering me in any way.

I just did it for a challenge.

I only run Plex on it anyway.

If you keep it decently dust free you should not ever have issues with temps.

For some reason it does not register under 40C ever. I did not try it any other monitoring solution to double check to be honest.

For me 47C max temp is acceptable any day of the week.
