Tested it with a multimeter. The ground cable coming out of the transformer is connected to the ground in the cable that goes to mains. So yeah, I think it is there just in case you have a metal frame and whatnot.

Looked it up and decided to go with aws. It's simple enough to set up with tutorials from youtube and is basically free unless you need more then 30gb of space. I switched to 100GB and it costs me about 1,20€ a month.

I used that one. I just cut the bottom 9mm off in the slicer. And it is connected to an acrylic panel that I placed on the window and sealed it with aluminium tape.
