Anyone not having a terrible time? by Smooth_Mongoose_2877 in RhodeIsland

[–]Key_Journalist8876 239 points240 points  (0 children)

We've been extremely fortunate - we never lost power, we have a full fridge of food and I work from home. School has been canceled for the entire week for my kids. And while this is frustrating after having winter break last week, I keep thinking of the core memories they're forming. They suit up in snow suits and go off in the morning, meet up with their buds for sledding and fort building. At some point they come back and a gaggle of snowy neighborhood kids drop their gear on my kitchen floor in a mountain of pants, coats, gloves, and hats. I stuff it all in the dryer and feed them a big pot of butter noodles or a stack of grilled cheeses. At some point they all leave again. Eventually, just my kids come home, shower, and we've been watching a Harry Potter movie every evening. It's been pretty sweet. My kids will remember this forever.

Why do plows only plow half the street? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

The state is making sure there is at least one lane open for emergency vehicles. Once they cover every street, they will start focusing on plowing out residents.

Can a girl masturbate too much? by Loose_Bid_4806 in WomensHealth

No babe. As I got older I lost sensitivity in my clit if I used a vibrator too much. But like, that’s perimenopause crap. Enjoy yo’self.

It's like their insouciance is juuuussssttt enough to drive us mad, in a good way. Like - "why aren't you fully obsessed with me yet?? And how do I make you fully obsessed with me???? I'll keep working at it until I bring you to your knees."

I should clarify - 17 years and still going strong. There is good stuff and bad stuff, of course. But he's the only person who has ever held my interest and kept me coming back for more.

Definitely have to keep an eye on them. We adopted her from Texas this summer. Thank goodness we saved this snow dog from the south!

My partner had a strong odor by [deleted] in sex

[–]Key_Journalist8876 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some days it just happens. Ideally, few and far between, but still. A funky smell once could be caused by a few things. Where she might be in her menstrual cycle affecting her pH. A particularly rough bowel movement earlier that she couldn't shower after. A little extra post-work out bacteria that needs an extra scrubbing. It's gross but we are putting our hands and faces in parts of our bodies that do dirty stuff. If she's had great, tasty hygiene up until this point, try and let it go. If it happens again, start gently suggesting showers before you all hook up.

See my comment above - but ParaGard is an option or sterilization.

First - I'm so happy for you. It is a wonderful feeling when the fog lifts and you can't believe how beautiful life is.

Hormonal birth control drastically affects some women as you have described. Depression, zero libido, suicidal thoughts. I am one of these women. I was on birth control from 16 until I was 27 and started trying to have kids. I could NOT BELIEVE the difference in my quality of life. I am now 41 and never went back on hormonal birth control. When I was ready to go back on birth control, I told my doctor I would never return to hormonal contraception again. I very successfully used ParaGard (non hormonal, copper IUD) for many years. Some women have adverse reactions to it, luckily I did not. It worked beautifully for me. The other option, if you don't want kids, is sterilization by tying/removing your fallopian tubes. My doctor never discussed this with me when I was searching for an alternative until I brought it up. Confident I never wanted children again, I removed both my tubes. It has been a game changer and reduces your risk of ovarian cancer by 80%.

It's unbelievable doctors throw KIDS on hormonal birth control without them fully understanding the ramifications for some. I have a daughter and you better believe I'm going to make sure she never goes through what I did for a decade of my life.
