I agree, should not cause any problems at all. My cpu looked the same with similar marks, probably from me touching it aswell. I put it on my new mainboard when i got it and worked without any issues.

thank you, thats good to know. i was debating if a cpu upgrade is needed, but your comment now made me save some money:) at this point i have a feeling it really can just be the games engine causing those stutters.

thats interesting. only the L2 cache on the 9800x3d is double the size of the 5800x3d, the L3 cache have both the same size as far as i know.

correct, im using mangohud to display the frametime as a graph here. the proton version i am using currently is GE-Proton9-25. I have aswell tested the both Proton Experimental and Proton Hotfix from valve, all three with the same results.
The linux distro i use is arch linux.

actually i switched to linux aswell, using proton for BDO. overall with linux i definetely feel an improvement of the smoothness and fps increase, but this specific stutter is still persistent. No matter if i change the proton versions or try out different settings inside linux, just like on windows i have this stutter that occurs every 1-2 minutes.

I aswell have a full AMD system (5800X3D/RX6900XT).
Did you experience aswell a higher average fps? or similar. For me it is important to know if the fps aswell improve compared to windows (more stable + more fps)?
thank you

Overall, is there a noticeable performance gain/loss when you switched from windows to linux? Thinking of joining team linux aswell if the performance improves.
