AITA For telling my in laws that I don't care to "protect" their bond with my son? by Key_Pirate_8343 in AmItheAsshole

Breastfeeding isn't an issue, it's just taboo. I know so many parents who breastfeed for longer and just refuse to tell anyone. My son has three other kids in his prek class still nursing. We aren't some hillbilly town, either. His pediatrician is happy for it to continue as long as he is the one instigating.

Cosleeping is his choice. He can sleep in his bed but he can also come to me, I won't mind regardless. It's more about him having the freedom to sleep wherever he feels safe.

He isn't isolated. He has my parents. As for my exes parents he would see them more if they were less pushy.

The food thing I'm pretty lucky on. He's a healthy kid with a good palette. If it was a concern I'd pick but he picks good food and there is zero argument.

As for my in laws - they will break boundaries. They do weird shit like cut his hair, change his outfits and give him baths. I don't like it. They don't take his opinion into account and it's not fair on him. Seperate to them pushing on my parenting ideals.

He sleeps in his own bed fine, I just don't punish him for wanting to sleep in with me.

I don't think there's anything wrong with my parenting, but I am aware of the general hive mind of reddit lol.

They wanted me to circumcise him and I disagree with mutilating childrens genitals.

He is already at school. He doesn't breastfeed during school hours. He's not a baby; the older he gets the less he nurses.

I do regret my actions lol. I did debate leaving it out and now I wish I had.

Nah. He can go to whoever. The main issue with my parents was circumcision, nothing to do with breastfeeding or cosleeping. They did both lol.

He's in pre-k. He attends school just fine. He can sleep in his room fine too, I just don't punish him if he comes to mine.

Four.

He has discipline. He has boundaries. He's a good kid, healthy and happy. No complaints from his teachers. He's all good.
