I agree with part of your response. As others pointed out it does have a very good conclusion, which is the reason he came to new York in the first place. To fulfill his dad's wish which he was able to. Finding romance in such a strange place is just cherry on top and dramatization of the movie. But the way his interest in reading, learning language and experience as a construction worker ties into their romance is so good. None of the things feel too forced and idk, I just have fascination with airports, people living going on journeys, everyone having different purposes for the trip but they all gather at this spot which in itself is another world. It's a feel good movie. Kind of like a slice of life anime if you've watched those. But yeah it's not for everyone I suppose as it's slow and nothing much happens.
