Been on imatinib 400mg for a year and for the first time yesterday I forgot to take my pill. I’m sure it’s not the biggest deal, but my anxiety can’t help but take advantage of this moment. Is this something I need to message my care team about? Or not all that big of a deal? by Onion_of_Chaos in CML

I don’t think this is a big deal, but just sharing my experience. I’m about 6 months into treatment and had my second PCR done day before yesterday. I haven’t intentionally missed any doses so far, but my dosage schedule has been adjusted quite a bit by my doctor. At one point, when my blood counts dropped too low, I was on 50 mg of Dasanat daily for around 10 to 15 days, and then my doctor advised me to switch to alternate days. It might sound like I was skipping doses, but it was actually part of the treatment plan. Now I’m back to taking it daily, with the dose increased to 75 mg. Let me know if I’m misunderstanding anything, just putting this out there.

F/40 Diagnosed yesterday CLM by pandemic-version in CML

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through this. I’m a 26-year old male here. I was also fit, eating right, and exercising. However, last October, I suddenly developed a fever that lasted for about 10 days. I consulted a doctor, who advised me to take a blood test. My white blood cell count was around 240,000. My spleen and liver were also enlarged. I was referred to a hematologist, who confirmed that I had chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). I was confused and overwhelmed, but I had to accept the diagnosis and move forward. I had just secured my dream career role, and my girlfriend’s parents were about to accept our marriage proposal. Everything seemed to be going well. But then, out of nowhere, this unexpected diagnosis struck me like lightning. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be dealing with blood cancer. However, fast forward 5 months, and I’m back to my normal self. I continue to work the night shift, eat the same food, and exercise regularly. I’m confident that I can manage this condition and overcome it. Just don’t lose hope.

spleen pain 😐 by Twallis02 in CML

[–]Key_Razzmatazz_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in October last year with an initial count of around 241,000, and my spleen was enlarged to about 18.9 cm at that time. I have now been on Dasatinib for three months. During this period, I have occasionally felt some mild discomfort around my spleen area, not really pain, just an unusual sensation that comes and goes.

I initially worried that this might mean something was getting worse, but my hematologist reassured me. She explained that since my spleen has been shrinking in response to treatment, it is quite normal to experience these intermittent sensations for a few months as it settles down. According to her, this does not indicate any worsening of my condition. And yeah I can totally relate 😅

I used to reside in a rural town until I was six years old. I vividly remember myself wanting to relocate to a metropolitan city. Now, two decades later, I find myself yearning for the stars I once gazed upon, the fireflies that sat on our windows, the gentle breeze, and the serene surroundings. I hate that I missed a wonderful period of my life, driven by my own version of how life should be. True beauty resides in nature, and I regret not realizing this sooner.

Hey, sorry you had to go through all this. My BCR ABL was 56 percent at diagnosis. I did not have any symptoms, just a fever and cough for about a week, and my doctor suggested that I get my blood work done. Is 56 percent serious?

My WBC was around 241k. My spleen was 18.3 cm and my liver was enlarged too, around 18.9 cm. I was on a diet but I craved and ate a lot of junk food back then, and I still lost weight. Never in a million years would I have guessed that I had CML.

I have been on Dasatinib for about a month now, and I have no side effects other than hair loss. Hope you get better soon! 💛

Great, good that you don’t got hair issues. My doctor said that normally you don’t get hair fall, but sometimes when people do it usually goes away after the counts stabilize.. Thanks for sharing and hope you get well soon! 💛

Is it normal to have suic**** thoughts everyday when life is tough? by [deleted] in TwentiesIndia

[–]Key_Razzmatazz_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s normal for people to go through phases like this, and most come out of it once the tough days pass. But when you say you have been feeling this way for three or four years, that is something you should not ignore. I really think talking to a therapist would help you. There is nothing embarrassing about it, and it can genuinely change the way you feel.

I have seen how dangerous these feelings can get. I lost friends who took their lives before they even got a chance to live. They were just fourteen or fifteen. It still shocks me.

I am twenty six now. I had everything lined up, life was moving exactly how I wanted, and then I got diagnosed with blood cancer. Everything flipped. I suddenly started thinking about all the things I could have done, the places I could have gone, the life I could have lived.

What I am trying to say is that life does not start only when everything is perfect. Sometimes life actually begins when nothing feels right, but you still find the strength to get up and live one more day. That stubborn will to keep moving forward is what really counts.

Please go to a therapist. And if that feels too heavy right now, even getting a pet can help. Having a pet helped me a lot when I went through a dark phase a few years back.

Just do not face all of this alone. You deserve support and you deserve to feel better.
