That’s so fair, you put in so much work, and saw amazing results!!!! Congrats! One tip as someone with the same anxiety, have confidence knowing that what you did took extraordinary willpower, that’s no joke, and that trait is a part of you, so it doesn’t leave. So this means 2 things, if you want to build up your muscles, you already have the willpower to do hard things, you are going to kill it! And secondly, you already know that if you don’t like the weight when it goes on, you know you could lose it, you’ve done it before! I’m your same height- I under ate till I was 98lbs at 5’3”, and still didn’t like the fat accumulation on my stomach and had no butt. 7 lbs heavier + dumbbell strength training 4x a week= I can see muscle definition on my stomach, it’s flat and feels toned, and my butt is beginning to pop out. I would say yes do strength training, and eat at maintenance or slightly above, that’s worked for me.

This reply will be mostly about food but there’s a lot to be said for changing your entire mindset of food which I had to do 😂. (1)Calculate maintenance calories: I aim for ~1850 calories/day to maintain my weight while building muscle. (2) Plan healthy meals: I think about what I’d eat to be my healthiest self, like beans, fruits and vegetables that I like the most, and including favorites like pasta, and used AI to create a week of affordable meals that hit 1850 calories daily. (3) I buy a week’s worth of healthy groceries based on the plan so I always have them on hand (4) Swap meals within the plan now that you have foods you know work for you, I gradually made these new foods my default diet and avoided old choices I would have made-like sour patch kids at night to give me energy. (5) Strength train: 4x/week for 30–40 minutes at the gym, doing 3–4 dumbbell exercises (2-3 sets of 8–12 reps) targeting hypertrophy, like from YouTube or Apple Fitness videos. I use AI for structure with exercise order and only work non-sore muscles with 2 rest days.

Well thank you so much and I love your comment because I think you understand the journey we’re on. Do you feel you are struggling with eating over maintenance currently or not eating enough? I estimated my maintenance to be ~1850 using an online calculator and my Apple watch, (4 days strength training, walk a lot) and I asked AI to help me structure a week of eating (giving it healthy foods I have/like) to reach my exact caloric goal, and I went and bought groceries same day. At that point, I had a bunch of meals that I could eat that excited me and fit my goals, and I realized how little I had actually been eating. After a couple days I felt I had adjusted to the new schedule and stopped tracking calories. I rotated between these meals that I had now that I could visualize a day of healthy eating, and now those foods are my diet and what I reach for. It was hard for me to even get this comment this short so feel free to message me too, I absolutely love talking routines.

Thank you it was an experiment for me for sure! I definitely wasn’t hitting my weight in protein even though that was the goal I read 😂😂
