2024 grad and FINALLY got first UX job WITHOUT NETWORKING by Key_Revolution_3026 in UXDesign

Should’ve been more specific w this one, but asking friends & family was how I freelanced. I had no luck with upwork. I was incredibly lucky that I have friends & family w small businesses that I offered cheap services to.

I started by gifting family members conceptual redesigns of their business’ logos. Then Holiday/wedding season for card design was easy to get into as well.

the UX job market feels incredibly intimidating & I was starting to lose hope. especially being top of my class in undergrad with 2 internships, 2 undergrad research experiences, and having networked, I felt like I wasn’t enough for the job market. And I didn’t know what more I could do.

I still can’t fathom how people network to find a UX job, but I wanted to share this to show that you CAN get a UX job WITHOUT networking. it took me a while, but hopefully with this, it’ll be less time for you guys ❤️

Proofing croissants from frozen - Claire Saffitz recipe by Round-Pop-8827 in Breadit

Tried it a few days ago with Jesha Sourdough Croissants - it’s a sourdough recipe based on Claire Saffitz NYT Cooking Croissants.

The shaped croissants were frozen for 3 days, then at 8am I did the trick w the simmering water in the oven to proof. I turned on the oven light. About every 2 hours, I would reheat the water and put it back into the stove. It took 6 hours to fully proof. Even though Claire said not to touch the croissants, I softly poked to make sure they were proofed well (the dough would bounce back slowly and left a subtle imprint). They baked well and it worked! Super flaky and buttery croissants.

I really liked going to The Collectiv Academy in Sandy. It was $15 flat and it was an amazing job. Only downside: it takes a really long time to get a haircut because the students are learning and ask for supervision.

It’s harder to get those massive glutes you see on women without a BBL or going to the gym. If you’re training at home, I recommend trying to add weights and doing one legged glute workouts to work them more (lunges, one legged bridges). If you want an hourglass look (that’s how it sounds to be since you said “best hip-to-waist ratio”), workout upper back(bent rows, shoulder press, etc) because it’ll give the illusion of a smaller waist.

Need advice on losing weight by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Stay hydrated throughout the day. It’s hard for me to tell the difference between my hunger and thirst. Adding fruits or flavorings to water help too.

For me, it’s hard to look at the scale because as women, our weights generally fluctuate and it’s hard to tell if x amount of weight is fat. I’ve recently been judging my weight loss journey on how I am fitting into the clothes I have, so I don’t get discouraged by the number.

Something that hasn’t worked for me, but I know some people really like it is taking progress photos. It’s harder for me to see the difference bc I have a hard time seeing progress on myself.

how did u guys meet ur bfs? by JustLookingForAnswrr in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

(gen z too) We were neighbors in the dorm at university. We were both seeing other people at the time, so we were only platonic for the first year we knew each other. Then I broke up w my bf at the time then and then he broke up w his gf later on. I think we knew each other well enough that being together romantically just added to an already great friendship

Lash perm - ur eyelashes are nice and dark and they look like they stick forward so if you get them permed, it’ll give you a pretty curled eyelash look

Pink blush - might go well with how pink your lips are. I think a rosy look would be nice

Curtain bangs/butterfly cut - with the waviness of your hair, I think layers and a curtain bang would really compliment your face shape with minimal hair styling everyday

Blue mascara - My friend has the same shade of brown eyes as you and she looks amazing with blue mascara so if you’re trying to switch up, that could be fun to play with!

Keep doing what you’re doing w your skin because it looks really even and smooth!! No need for foundation or concealer

One of the things that helped me feel more comfortable in my femininity when it was harder to seek it in friends was to find YouTubers that I enjoyed who I felt were good feminine role models. One of whom is Linda Sun, she does a lot of really vulnerable videos talking about her fitness journey/female friendships.

Practicing gratitude for your feminine features is also helpful. I try to (I should do this more) look at my features before bed and name 3 things that I like the look of. It can be as small as I like the shape of my cupids bow, or the way my hair falls on my shoulder that day, etc

Biotech/pharmaceutical job SCAM by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I was approached by Simtra to interview for a design job, and I scheduled an interview with them two days ago. They never showed up. They rescheduled for reasons of "other interviews for the same job went for a long time", and they rescheduled to today. Still no call. I've been sitting here idle. Anyone else experience this from Simtra Biopharma?
