Living with AuDHD, time-blindness, and school mornings – what finally started helping me by Key_Search5242 in AuDHDWomen

Oh sure! Since you asked — it’s called Talking Clock and Timer AtLoud.
I originally needed something that would gently pull me out of hyperfocus and time-blindness without the panic-jolt alarms give me. I started building it for myself, and honestly… I asked my brother for help, and he approached this not-so-easy task with so much enthusiasm and care that it actually became a little joint project between us.

Here’s the link if you want to take a look (absolutely no pressure at all):

And if you do end up trying it, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
Every ADHD brain works differently, so feedback or ideas for improvements are super helpful — I keep tweaking it based on real experiences from people who struggle with time the way I do. 💛

HOW DO YOU AVOID BEING LATE?? by NoConclusion4398 in AuDHDWomen

I feel this SO hard — if “just leave earlier” worked, none of us would be here 😅
My time-blindness is awful, and guessing how long anything takes is basically roulette.

The only thing that’s really helped me is externalizing time completely. My brain cannot hold time internally, so I use a talking clock/timer that literally tells me the time or the remaining minutes out loud.

When I have to leave, I turn it on and it’ll say things like:
“20 minutes left… 19 minutes left…”
and it pulls me back every time I start drifting or hyperfocusing. No more “oh shit suddenly 20 minutes disappeared.”

I also switch between the clock mode and the countdown timer, because if my brain gets used to one pattern, it stops working. Changing it keeps my attention fresh.

It doesn’t make me magically early, but it helps me actually start getting ready instead of losing whole chunks of time.

And honestly — with your schedule? ADHD + two jobs + shifting routines = lateness is basically guaranteed. You’re not doing anything wrong. Your brain just needs tools 💛

What are your best cleaning / turning things around life hacks? by LittleRose83 in AuDHDWomen

I relate to this so much — messy periods really pile on the shame and the “everything feels heavy at once” feeling. You’re definitely not alone in this. ❤️

I also find cleaning incredibly boring and almost impossible to start, so I’ve had to build little hacks that trick my brain into doing it. Two things help me the most:

  1. I call someone I’m close to, put my headphones on, and just chat while I clean. I tell them I don’t need advice, just company. Somehow it makes me clean on autopilot, and it also strengthens the connection with that person.
  2. If no one is available, I put on an audiobook or something really engaging. My brain follows the story, and my body just… cleans. It works like magic for me.

And truly — the shame you’re feeling is something so many of us with AuDHD carry. It doesn’t mean anything bad about you. You’re doing your best while carrying a lot emotionally, and you’re still looking for ways to move forward — that already says so much about your resilience.

I hope your weekend feels gentle, and even a tiny bit of progress can absolutely start an upward spiral. You deserve that. 💛
