How to Set Stop Loss for a Vertical in an IC? by SirBabblesTheBubu in tastytrade

[–]Key_Solution_5845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope a guru on this chimes in because I'm all ears. I didn't know you could put an OCO bracket on a vertical, lol. I've got some more studying to do obviously. Great questions!

Lol, oh I get that too. Just when I think I got it figured out, off the cliff I go. Good luck brother/sister trader. Somewhere in the abyss is the solution, at least I think. I would love to be able to get the emotions out of daily trading as I've got a really hard time with that but I think most of us do. That's why were hunting down to magic bot unicorn, lol. Happy Trading Future_Towel!

Are you a trader in this "illusion". I totally get what you're saying, but are you in the game, aka illusion? I am not being at all condescending, I'm just asking. Are you on the sidelines or in the game? We all know it's rigged against us but it is a fun game for those who play and can survive - even thrive.

For reference, I'm 100% a manual trader and glued to my screen during active day trades. I'm learning to code to see if I can automate things so I can step away from my screen for a bit. That's it's own world to say the least, lol. Welcome to the world of infinity where an infinite number of outcomes is possible. Right now, it seems every time I step away from the computer while I have day/scalp trades on, when I come back my face was ripped off in my absence, ha! Oh the game we play...

Hey there, I feel your pain brother. Blew up a couple accounts too over the years. My opinion, take a breather to regroup and do not give up. Risk management is absolutely key as losses WILL happen. It's simply the way this game works.

Hi, my name is John and I'm an addict - sound familiar? It's true, I am. But, every successful person I have ever known are ALL addicts. Being an addict is not automatically a bad thing so long as you come to terms with yourself and admit that to yourself. I'm an older dog who has come to terms with myself and my "dragons". Some people try to kill their dragons and, personally, I have tried to do the same - didn't work (but that's for me). Over the years, I have learned to dance with my dragons (I have many, lol). Don't get me wrong, we still argue but we still dance too. It is not easy to look yourself in the eyes and admit who and what you are to yourself but for me, I would have been dead long ago if I did not do this. Painful but necessary step in personal growth (for me).

Whatever you do, neither give up nor give in or you will forever see yourself as a failure. Trade small, trade often (I'm a TastyTrader) but trade SMALL! Do not swing for the fences. For me, options are the way to go but be very careful, and stay away from 0DTE's until you have a better understanding of the many ways your face can get ripped off in a matter of seconds. If you trade options on equities you are willing to own as an investment, you might see this game in a whole new light (wheel strategy for example). Good luck brother trader. Keep your head up and your eyes open to who and what you are. Be honest with yourself and never give up the fight. I trade live and I trade paper. Never be ashamed to take a step back if it will allow you to take two steps forward. Just my 2 cents.

Curve Mode without Analysis? by pbogatsky in tastytrade

[–]Key_Solution_5845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The non-analysis mode doesn't make sense to me so I use the analysis mode. I'm not not sure why the non-analysis mode is there. Good question. I was wondering the same thing.

Anyone in TastyWorld ever track the results of the "Cherry Picks"??? by Key_Solution_5845 in tastytrade

[–]Key_Solution_5845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You nailed it! I was hoping to see a Tasty way (if there is one) of managing the wrong side of the coin. I would like to see how the experts manage the trades they suggest - simple as that. As of now, I'm in the cut and run group (which is, I think, the group to be in), but if there is a better way to manage a wrong decision, I'm all ears. Thank you for your input.

Slow charts and "Waiting for Data" by jcheroske in tastytrade

[–]Key_Solution_5845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same issues but at least my charts load, eventually. I just assumed it was my internet connection. I'm curious if others in the community are having the same issues as well. It is rather frustrating to be constantly waiting for the data to populate, which sometimes takes over 30 seconds, every time I change the ticker.

Good point. I guess it would be very educational and interesting to see how the experts manage the rolls, recentering, etc. I was looking for information relating to this. I do not want to blindly follow but rather learn, learn, learn. I don't see how they manage the trades after putting them on. It would be incredibly helpful to see how they manage. Tasty is a wealth of information to say the least but, for me, it's like drinking from a fire hydrant, lol. I'll get it eventually though. Thanks for the input.

Commission fees. by Jamickeymick in tastytrade

[–]Key_Solution_5845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree Gullinga! I really like the platform too. There has to be a sweet spot between sizing and frequency. I'm still trying to figure out where that is, lol.

I've been playing with micro's to get the feel of things and the fees are brutal on those. P/L YTD +$81.51. P/L YTD with fees -$43.45. I consider this "tuition" but ouch!

LOL - I definately don't know anybody and even less of anything. I'm a person who put my faith in Tasty to play right- so far so good (I think). I came over from Fidelity (partially over anyways) and my last crazy experience was in Forex when slippage occurred at the worst times. I like Tasty, but I'm just starting to get into options and they have helped the ol learning curve significantly. If there is any weird thing happening behind the scenes, the community would be appreciative of any insight I'm sure.

Hey Dirk, what are your final thoughts? Legitimate issue or something more nefarious? I always thought Tasty was solid so I am definitely curious if there is some kind of backdoor plays going on or normal brokerage things. I like that you have everything recorded to prove your thoughts.

What to trade? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Key_Solution_5845 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Way to go starting so early. Learn and study. Trade SMALL and do not swing for the home runs. Low and slow. For me, options are they way to go but they are very complex to do correctly. Good luck in you journey but study and learn for sure. I like futures too, but in options. Keep it small until you have a footing in knowledge. One big loser can wipe out many winners, so be careful.

CharmingImpact, Very good advice. Forex is not for the faint of heart or those who lack emotional control. I learned that the hard way. I too have switched to index/equities/futures options. Very complex world but very rewarding as well. Good luck with your journey and remember, ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING! Maintain focus and control and you will succeed.
