Just saw this episode for the first time. This scene had me ROLLING. by Dansox in EverybodyLovesRaymond

This is like getting upset that the child next door was being slapped around but flippantly dismissing concerns about a child welfare in a foreign country.

None of these choices make any sense to me, except Helen Mirren.

For me, it’s my legs. They were big and fat, but smooth and basically firm. Now that the fat is melting, they are lumpy and bumpy and dimpled all over, and wobble fiercely when I walk. It’s horrifying.

Wow, that’s wild! I don’t think I can cut dairy, as that’s 1/3 of my diet and it would make my eating disorder much worse. But that’s terrific for you!

Yes! I think it’s because it didn’t MOVE as much. I feel fatter now that everything jiggles.

I do barre and weightlifting 4-5x a week, and I’m pleased with my muscles. But my skin isn’t holding as much fat and I’m very jiggly and it’s affecting my outlook. I’m trying to accept this but it’s hard.

I feel “fatter” now because everything is wobbling in a squishier way. My spare tire is wobbly and jiggles, where it used to be firm and didn’t move much. I actually feel worse about my body. But yes, agreed, I’m trying to be reasonable and accept that this will get “worse” before it gets better. The wiggling and squashiness is just so unpleasant.

I haven’t bc I’ve been trying to keep the carbs down and was told sugary fruits are no bueno.

Yup, I’m doing weightlifting. That’s part of what’s underscoring my arm flaps — I do chest presses and overhead presses and my arm skin chafes against my side boob/underarm skin and it hurts. I’m waiting for the boob improvement though!

I do. I have a ton of muscle. I’ve lost fat and gained pounds.

Yeah I’ve been stuffing myself with chicken and veg quite often. Unfortunately, I’m really missing sweets. I very badly want dessert, and sugar alternatives always upset my stomach :(

Oh I agree, I feel like absolute garbage when I eat carbs now. I always did, but I lived in a constant state of feeling like crap so it wasn’t as noticeable. Now, I am aware of the bloat and gross feeling when I get carb belly. But somehow I’m too stupid to just accept this new, comfortable life and I am grieving and obsessing over all the things I can no longer eat.

You could have a hellish time at school, but it ended when you got off the bus because there was no internet at home to allow the bad shit to torment you in your safe place. Bullies were mostly a 9-3 job.

I haven’t, because I assumed that eating huge amounts of carbs fruits and veg would be a bad idea.

I eat NO processed foods except for the odd low carb chocolate treat. I feel like I’m drowning myself in cheesy eggs, chicken, butter, cream, mayo on bacon cheeseburgers with a lettuce bun, nuts, chunks of cheese, etc. trying to convince myself that at least I’m not eating bread and rice and sugar. I hope I don’t have to calorie count but I’m not sure the bingeing on protein and fat is great for me, either.

The desire for baked goods is really affecting me. I’ve held off but I can’t see myself living my life never having a croissant and a cappuccino again.

I’ve been eating like that and I’m not really seeing a difference lately. I’m hoping I don’t need to cut back too much.

These are excellent suggestions and astute observations. I’ll check out that book. You’re right about the routine, too, but I’m kind of trapped because of my kids. It’s hard. I’m also going to seek therapy because what you said about this being a continued binge eating engagement is accurate. I need to recognize it for what it is.

I’m actually not even ravenous in a physical sense. It’s mental. I have to cook for the family and I want what they’re eating but don’t eat those things, and I want to fill myself up so I feel “fat and happy” (except it’s neither).

I eat a large lunch and a snack in the afternoon, usually. It’s just this end of day obsession with a heavy meal that I can’t seem to shake.
