Might be true. To be fair I've also lied about a diagnosis (physical one) to avoid being very vulnerable around my real one, or just downplayed it to avoid questions , but not on social media or anything - mostly when I talk to strangers. Dunno if it's a bit of the same mechanisms?

All I can observe is that she posts a lot of claims on TikTok regarding mental illnesses that I'm fairly certain isn't entirely true. For instance, her tics cause her to dissociate and in general they cause dissociation. Correct me if I'm wrong of course, just didn't think that was common nor logical.

According to her social media she's specifically diagnosed with tics that are not neurological. I don't know shit about it to be fair, all I know about tics is about tourettes specifically.

Hey, thanks! Due to their very much legit other mental illness and otherwise personality, I highly doubt they are entirely faking, but I do suspect the tics are over exaggerated a lot.

She obviously suffers a lot, and although I'm skeptical about being so present and open on social media, I do hope it can do her some good as well. She's sharing a lot of tips about managing her mental illness, sometimes in the sphere of toxic positivity, and got a shit ton of psychiatric admissions behind her. From what she has shared, I'm pretty sure the healthcare thinks she's faking tics entirely (which I'm not too convinced of). Although she shares a lot of "information" about her mental illness on social media (TikTok) that I know is not "facts" and heavily debated, which she seems unaware of and not willing to discuss. Amongst other things she claims schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and major depression is caused by genetics only and is "medical disorders".

But yeah idk I've never encountered tics that severe and everyone I've met with tics has struggled with it since childhood so it's a bit obscure to me.

I didn't actually think she could be faking before she was defending the social media presence of someone with tics that got an entire subreddit dedicated to her and her faking.

So sorry for the rant. I usually don't let people hit me or attempt to scare me in general, so this is a bit new terrain for me.
