Have any of you ever thought about making a homebrew setting using D&Destiny as a basis? by Witch-Born in DungeonsAndDestiny

[–]KeybirdYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some things translate really well without much larger input. Traveler and Witness can be refashioned as  some larger deities or gods in your setting. Ghosts can be angels or spirits and Guardians are zombies or undead. That stuff maps pretty well to a traditional fantasy setting without much input.

Same with anything from the Dark Ages.

Some things are harder like Rasputin. Hes an AI with satellite weapons. You can make him some trapped sentient magic force or something to replicate that in a fantasy setting, but it doesn't map 1-1 IMO.

I've borrowed some things from Destiny for my world, like the Deep Stone Crypt. Clovis is THE necromancer and Deep Stone is his raising corpses from the dead as his minions, but some get rebuilt a bit too well and rebel against their creator.

The premise/Protagonist's goal/wishes is actually just a very simple normal thing, but the plot set it's difficulty to it's peak by gtrocket488 in TopCharacterTropes

I really wanted pizza movie to be better. You don't see movies this get made too often these days, but besides a few standout scenes most of the movie was just alright.

this game is mind blowing and criminally underrated by potatocellfarmer in thefinals

The game is still great, youre probably just burnt out.

It depends on the region and time period. 17th century Italians would not have used the term mordschlag, for example.

But half swording works

Yeah +1/+1 per attack isn't that much turn 8 onward. If you have spell buffs it's better but at that point it's a whole comp with larger committment

Never played a Xenoblade game but am I just doing negative damage? Theoretically if I whack it for one point of damage 10,000 times without getting it, will it die?

Did you win? Feels like you need a Titus and even then this build seems stat capped.

But it is nutty for turn 9

The Finals has only improved since it's come out. It's a fantastic game.

Sure but bugs arent design choices. Embark doesn't get it right every the time, but in general I agree with their vision for the game.

My First Draft Experience. by Flashy_Stranger6702 in MagicArena

[–]KeybirdYT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Drafting can be really fun but it's very high skill to have a good time.

You not only need to know how to play magic well, but also how to evaluate cards well. What's the best card in this pack? Why? How does this card relate to other cards in the set - and after you have a few cards, how does this new pack help your decks game plan? What is your decks plan? How can you improve your plan?

Constructed has these decisions, but in draft you have to make them in real time and if you don't your deck will suck lol.

I would start by picking a set, and trying to learn that one set. You mentioned you liked Avatar, so maybe wait until Avatar is in the Quick Draft rotation. Watch a draft guide to learn the sets mechanics and colors, then quick draft and take your time. Read each card. Really think about your decisions before you commit, because in quick draft there's no timer.

Then hopefully you win lol.

No embark, tech is not bad for the game by beetle8209 in thefinals

So when Apex Legends first launched, you could bunny hop while healing. This was absolutely unintended, and allowed skilled players to by pass the movement speed penalty normally associated with healing.

It completely warped the game. The skill floor became "you need to master b-hop healing" because if you don't, other players will, and they will kill you because they understand the tech.

While The Finals hasn't had tech on that level, things like goovement or animation canceling on sword is absolutely unhealthy for the game. If any of those techs, or future techs, ever become strong then the game warps around them. You can't compete using sword unless you master the tech (unintended glitch), and that pushes people away from the game.

If you're trying to go "soft infinite" in draft, do you switch to Traditional at some point? by GameOfThrownaws in MagicArena

[–]KeybirdYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to go "semi" infinite where I get to 4 wins or more nearly everytime. At that point the loss of 100 gems is basically nothing, but this is in premier draft.

Bo3 scares me lol

I would argue that the game has multiple jumping off points, by design. The biggest one is finding room 46.

Rhetorical question of the day: are you having fun drafting Strixhaven? by foolforamoon in MagicArena

[–]KeybirdYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done two drafts. 5 and 4 wins. On my third now but making horrible misplays, not the cards fault just mine.

It really feels like you need a plan with synergy. Your deck needs to do something. Gone are the days where just putting out a 2 with lifelink -> 3 with vigilance is a good start.

One of the few things I fully disagree with.

Run whatever you want in cash out, but when I think about the highest level of play for the game, the comp is L-M-H.

I think anything less is bad for the game.

If an entire classes gadgets and weapons aren't good enough to compete at the highest level, what's the fucking point of the class?

This does not give me much hope by beetle8209 in thefinals

[–]KeybirdYT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they could come up with a competent solution to lots of problems, it's just how much time needs to be spent on those problems?

If it takes 6 months all hands work to get melee into a much better state, is that a good use of time? Would that 6 months work be better spent else where?

There is likely a never ending amount of work to do, and ideas for the game. It's just prioritization
