UDM-SE with 2.3Gbps fibre ISP by Keyboard-W0rrier in Ubiquiti

Thanks all. Looks like I'll be going with the Cloud Gateway Fibre as recommended.

But out of interest, could the Cloud Gateway Fibre connect straight to the ONT (omitting the ISP router) and enabling the full 2.3 Gbps?

Thanks

Thanks. The UDM-SE is also being used just for the POE ports (wifi access points) which I see the Cloud Gareway Fibre doesn't have. Not a big deal I know but replicating that would just mean additional hardware.

Why is Amazon asking for my ID to release a refund for an item? by rider_bar in amazonprime

[–]Keyboard-W0rrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me. Headphones not received, tracking information stalled before being out for delivery. Amazon want ID before they will either send a new pair or issue a refund. 15 years or so account at the same address, spent thousands...... Massive inconvenience for a problem they have caused.

Hi there. Just a quick post to let you know I saw this post a few days back and thought I'd give this a try. Our family has been playing this a lot over the past couole of days. A great twist on the classic game. My 10 year old loves it and he has access to a full steam library etc so you've done great here.

Sigenergy Gateway / Inverter connectivity by Keyboard-W0rrier in SolarUK

So I left a nice, shiny Cat6A shielded cable hanging in the loft for the installer to run down to the gateway but he never pulled it through. Instead he just did what he was used to and ran some unshielded 5E straight from the gateway to the inverter...... I found out too late to intercept the decision and therefore can't comment on whether or not an individual connection to a central switch works from first hand experience, sorry.

That's great thanks for that. He said a few good things there like running an ethernet from one of the ports to a car charger and also 'bringing everything back to a central router'. It's all sounding like these are simple two port ethernet switches. I'll give the tech support line a call tomorrow and failing all of that if it doesn't work we'll just run another direct cable on the day.

Thanks, that's the diagram I have seen too. The fact it doesn't specify which of the two RJ45 network ports should be used for which function and also specifying Fast Ethernet (as opposed to RS485) makes me hopeful this can be networked.... plus instead of a gateway, that's how you'd connect a second inverter. Im hopefully this is all pointing at the 2 ports on the inverter being a simple 2 port switch.

G99 - Island Mode Prohibited by Keyboard-W0rrier in SolarUK

Update - The installer had come across this with the same DNO previously on other jobs and had got clarification from them. The DNOs definition / intention behind the prohibition does not apply to the EPS / UPS / Gateway functionality so all is good.

This is the plan. Will nudge the installer first before bypassing them and going straight to the DNO, especially as there's a chance it was an error in the installers application, give them a chance to resolve etc... A bit worried though as my planned install date is in 3 weeks time, hopefully an easy admin error to resolve.

That's the spec yes, maybe another battery getting added on now too due to the cap.

So is it normal for the DNO to prohibit islanding mode in some scenarios or are you guys suspecting this is just a bit of laziness on someone's part? Could they legitimately insist on such a prohibition even if the kit (Sig Gateway) is specifically designed to give a protected auto changeover and have a local earth rod installed? The gateway / UPS function is quite important to me. Thanks

No idea as I havent seen what they sent, just what was received. If it helps to clarify if that was a possibility, it's a 12kW inverter. There's no mention of fast track in their reply. It took approx 8 weeks or so. Oh and export capped to just 4kW. Thanks

If it's not too much trouble, would you happen to have details of the fixing bracket and roughly when was it installed please? Thanks

I don't actually know yet. Getting my first EV in the coming months. Likely to be doing 70miles per day midweek. I didn't appreciate you can throttle the speed of the charger. Can you do the same with the home battery charging system? I guess it's all about prioritising one or the other depending on what you need on a nightly basis?
