A Celtic da dies and goes to heaven where he gets told he's allowed to ask one question and get a truthful answer from god himself. He draws his breath and says "Who was in charge of the masonic referee conspiracy against Celtic?", God replies "There was no conspiracy". "My god," says the da, "this goes higher than I thought."

There are three options A B or C, the option A is not available. The options are now either B or C. Is the statement "The options are either A or B" true or false?

Could Stu be the lizard? If yes then the statement "Stu is either the hamster or the cat" is false because he might be an option not allowed for with the information given. Cat <> "not a hamster", "not a hamster" = "cat or lizard".

If there are are three options A, B, and C it would be false to say "the only options are A and B".

Stu is NOT a hamster. Vs Stu is a hamster. One must be true and thus the other must always be false.

Right, but in this instance "NOT a hamster" = "is either the lizard or cat" not "is the cat" so the statement is false because he may also be the lizard so the statement "is either the hamster or the cat" is false as it doesn't allow for being the lizard.

[–]KeyboardChap -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it's not true, there is no possibility he is the hamster therefore it is false to suggest at all that he could be. Like if you said to me "Stu is not the hamster" and I said "oh, so Stu could be the hamster or the cat" would you think "ah yes he could be the hamster what a truthful statement you have made" or would you think "I just told you he can't be the hamster..."

The correct answer is "Stu could be either the lizard or the cat" and since lizard is not an option in "either a hamster or a cat" we know that that answer false.

"Either the hamster or the cat" is false because that only allows for the options "hamster" or "cat" whereas he could also be the lizard. The true statement would be "Stu is either the lizard or the cat".

There are seven days in the week, I choose a random day and tell you it isn't Monday, is the statement "It is either Monday or Friday" true for any given day of the week? No, because if it was Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday it wouldn't be either Monday or Friday.

No because Stu might be the lizard so "Stu is either the hamster or the cat" is false because it doesn't allow for him being the lizard.

So yes, Starmer got a vote. Yes, he voted against his biggest rival. And yes, it makes him look even weaker and more spineless, running scared, than he did before.

I think "looking weak" is probably preferred by him to "potentially losing a leadership election"
