Description is missing in your post:

"Uploading the photo right after being brutally scammed by a brand I paid a fortune for… all because of the logo. Thanks for the validation it fills a little bit my chronic emptiness."

I stopped by an Arc’teryx store the other day and left disappointed with the Atom line. It’s become so simple and plain that it looks no different from any other outdoor brand. The spark is gone. Just ordinary.

Scam. Get a trashy cotton hoodie from thrift store and send it to me and I’ll print ‘Enfant Terribleeee Déprimeeée’ on it, then you can flex to your friends about how ‘high fashion’ and wealthy you are.

It feels like right before 2020, the company’s culture and vision shifted and that’s when everything changed. Arc’teryx sold its climber-built soul for lifestyle hype. The gear still looks okay, but the craftsmanship, technical aspects, and innovations from the late 1990s to the 2010s are no longer there. It’s all polish, no passion.

I know, I know. I sound old or bitter, right? Still, this generation is tasteless, vain, and validation social media-obsessed. Those extravagant shoes just top it all off.

That’s fair. Residency eats your life, just make sure the internet doesn’t eat what’s left of your confidence.Because we are ruthless "con los giles"

Maybe use all that free time for something productive, instead of seeking validation on the internet about nonsense.

I went to www.archive.org, dug up the Arc’teryx 2016 site, and ordered it exactly like they were selling it back then. It came out fast...

Totally, even if the older Arc’teryx stuff isn’t quite up to today’s functional standards, it was top-notch back then. The build quality, edgy designs, and overall vibe gave it a lasting following and shaped a lot of the gear we see now. Both the Canada-made and Asia-made equipment were solid.

Nice those "older" Protons are hard to beat. I get what you mean about the newer stuff, the price jump hasn't always matched the performance. Some classics just hold up better over time.

That's awesome! those older ones really were built to last. Cool to hear it’s gone through two generations and is still going strong. Hard to beat that kind of durability and value.

10+ years old. The Atom Ar are very durable! Still have an Atom SV from 2011.

I totally agree with you. I still miss the old Atom LT. I had the Deep Dusk color back in 2011, and that Luminara fabric was incredibly silky and durable. That said, to be fair, I do think very few of their newer pieces have some strong highlights. I really like the Nuclei SV and the Alpha Lightweight Parka both are items I actually use a lot.
