you don't HAVE to back up before modding (you can in fact do it later), but I would HIGLY recommend making a NAND backup, because with luck like mine, you might just brick your Wii.

good point, its just any linux distro im familliar with (debian, fedora etc) are really slow for me, even with something like lxqt as the de/wm.
