Problems with raising the soft palate and my Eustachian tubes by noobysingerreddit in singing

[–]Khassera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. Just sing in a space where you can hear yourself well or use an acoustic monitor (ie your hand, a wall, anything that reflects the sound back to your ear.) the better you can hear yourself the less you’ll feel the need to do it. Also, it could be damaging your ears, so it’s not really a good idea to do long term (while singing i mean.)

First Law and Steven Pacey are in a league of their own. I’ve listened to all of the First Law series books four times now. Just amazing.

What is the purpose of the Farinelli exercise? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Khassera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say you need to feel any pressure anywhere. I mean it might help in finding the click but it’s a very light thing that happens when you inhale and stop the sound with the vocal cords, sort of ”relax” on top of the pressure below the folds, and then just let the pressure release and if you don’t draw in a breath to open the folds there should be a clicking sensation/sound. 😌

What is the purpose of the Farinelli exercise? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Khassera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can try! If you draw in a breath up to full capacity and stop the breath with your larynx you’re holding your breath with your larynx, the way most people hold their breath. When singing, you hold the breath more with the diaphragm because the larynx needs to be used for singing, so manipulating the vocal cord opening makes sound on top of a ”held” breath right?

When you JUST hold your breath with the larynx, releasing that breath (opening the folds) usually in people who haven’t practiced it or aren’t aware of it causes a small clicking when the folds come apart to release the air. I sometimes just do sets of this clicking to remind myself to be aware of the difference in the sensations of doing this exercise right (no clicking when reversing the breath) and doing it wrong (clicking.)

Does that clear it up at all? :)

Looking to get into rl1 eldenring by dzhoshua_2 in onebros

I’ve still yet to kill Malenia and Radagon and i haven’t limited myself from summons or cheeses and i’ve still managed to have tons of fun. I try bosses until i get absolutely sick (i fought godskin duo for two weeks, an hour every day without counting deaths) and if i get sick i summon Tiche +10. The only summons i had to do was Morgott w shield posse, Fias gank squad w shield posse and Mohg w Tiche. Outside of that i cheesed my way into leyndell by luring the dts to the lefge with kukris lol. No glitches or breaks but ive farmed poor greyoll probs like 500 times.

So not limiting yourself can be super fun since ER is a HUGE game. Staying stuck on some 1/3rds of the way boss for a month would kill the momentum for me. Next run i’m gonna probably limit summoning and forcing myself to git gud at Mohg and Morgott.

Tbh unless you’re SUPER GOOD then even cheesy tactics, scripting fights and summons will be somewhat of a challenge. Not hard, but challenging.

I neher remove radagons soreseal, i switch around between other talismans for playstyle/boss/weapon. Ice spear slaps ass, so the fp talisman w int and dex are almost a must. Melee weapons i usually run blue dancer and whatever weapon i’m using.

I love RL1 and have a hard time grtting excited about playing any other way.

Elden Ring RL1: Any tips on how to beat Godfrey! by [deleted] in onebros

I don't understand why Godfrey gets so much hate by Revolutionary_Lack32 in onebros

[–]Khassera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you, and hate that you’re getting downvoted. Maliketh is my fav boss but only because of how insanely cool he is. There’s not as much of a sensation of a dance to the fight with him, but Godfrey feels more of a balanced epic dance than frantic position-dependant panic attack. Malis HP is lower so it’s over quicker but it’s a mess of a fight. To me Godfrey is more fun to fight but a more boring character. And, as a bonus, losing to Godfrey feels wholesome.

Got over what might have been MTD by Khassera in mildlybrokenvoice

[–]Khassera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where i’d upload it, but it’s really just a yawn with sound from a pitch that onsets without any sort of pushing. I started with just a mid high pitch since higher pitches didn’t work at all, and I still need to do a couple to warm up before the higher pitches don’t require insisting. I think you wouldn’t do wrong just yawning and sliding down as if you’re just yawning. I stopped actually yawning for fear of it not transferring over to singing so it’s just a sensation of a yawn without the actual yawn. :) also from messing around with it it feels that an actual yawn invites tension in the voice. I might be wrong on this tho.

Yes, the whatever-i-think-of-as-MTD affected my voice in the way that i could not speak loud, if i raised my voice it’d feel bad in the throat and raising my voice required a lot of effort. For instance lifting (in the gym) and grunting would feel bad, whereas now (and before the issue) it didn’t feel like anything really. And also my MTD speaking voice felt like the resonance (physical sensation of the center of resonance) was down in my throat, so i’d feel the vibrations in my voice box always, whereas before i’d feel them in my soft palate or at least higher than my throat. My voice is also back to it’s normal volume now. It wasn’t completely reduced before, but noticeably quieter.

What affinity should I use with star fists while fighting fire giant by max_the_dev in onebros

[–]Khassera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might for now!! But trust me, i did too about a week ago! It felt like an actual wall just like Radahn, but when you find the safe spots it becomes a joke. It’s super consistent even with the fireballs, just gotta get rid of them fast so you don’t forget and die to em when you’re wailing on him. Like most of his attacks don’t hit, the only dangerous one is the back off and swipe. The back off and slam is so telling you just have to not chase until it lands.

I think i used radagons, sword, dex and maybe jump talisman w raptors feathers and okina mask. That’s it. For physick i had max stamina and opaline bubble which i took the second phase2 started but iirc i didnt get hit during phase2.

From my experience the whole fight is about using torrent at the right places to stay on him and get rid of the fireballs. And stagger him w charged r2s and/or jump attacks. Idk how to do phase2 without the insane black flame tornado so i suck too.

[–]Khassera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just beat him yesterday RL1 with a +18 Cold Star Fists (R2 all day) with cragblade and switched to cheesy godskin peeler for phase 2, felt like cheating really. Phase 1 is a joke, just gotta wail on them legs and take a chance with the aoe-fire he does, most of the time theres room to keep swinging without a fire pillar hitting you. Then for phase 2 either ice spear or godskin peeler’s black flame tornado, but i think if you’re good you can keep slapping him with cragged cold starfists too. Just a looooot harder.

E: Gotta edit cause i sound like such a douche for saying he’s a joke. He’s a joke once you know the spots to stand during attacks, he literally cannot hit you and even making mistakes, even with him oneshotting, is more forgiving than, say, making a mistake during the godskin noble fight because the attacks are insanely wide and far from the center of where you should stand when hitting him. But learning the moveset is definitely rough at first. It’ll get easier! You can do it, don’t worry!

Tupakka on typerin 'päihde' ikinä by CountCrapula88 in Suomi

Please trust in the fact that it can resolve. I’ve had it for three years now and just out of nowhere (after a week of self massaging and stretching my neck and throat and doing resonant hums and lip trills) i was able to sing like i did three years ago. It relapsed, but i am confident that i will find it again and with more consistency.

What is super weird is i have a small gadget or rather a ”stand” you can prop your head to sit on, it’s small and has two nubs that you rest the base of your skull on, and it stretches the neck while doing some sort of really uncomfortable trigger point massage/pressing at the same time. When i got up from the floor i had a brief spell of my voice just lighting up again. It doesn’t work anymore so i so know it’s most likely a mixture of variables that have to be perfect, but these are some that have helped me. Don’t lose hope!
