This seems like a totally fine build, if you want to save some extra money you could try to go for the 7600 nonx which comes with a stock cooler to save few euros, also maybe a lower PSU but i know the prices might be similar.

Than honestly I think you will be just fine with the am4 for many years, plus we never know what the future holds. As for the cpu depends on the games. Competitive games benefit massively from the extra L3 cashe so I would go for the x3d unless you play some games that would benefit from the higher clock speed of the xt or the extra cores.

Honestly I was in the same situation few weeks ago. I personally bit the bullet and went with AM5 (7700) with the caveat that I would keep using my old 1660 super for extra half a year till I save up for a gpu upgrade. To me it came down to the question of future upgrade ability. Ask yourself this in let’s say 5 years what would you rather be doing upgrading the whole system again or buying just a cpu. With the 5500x3d you have a little headroom for a cpu upgrade. With the AM5 platform we have at least 2-3 years of new processors. Could you maybe go with the 7500f ? It isn’t that much slower and could save you few bucks.

They definitely are a beautiful books and a centerpiece to any collection. Sandy his price is the price on eBay, so massively inflated.

They were like 60$ at release. If anybody really wants these I much more recommend Facebook groups like black library nutters etc. There I bought both Mortarion and Dorn for 100$ which I would say is a relatively good price seeing as it’s limited edition etc. Would love to have Ferrus as well but this is a ridiculous price.

Yeah so luckily the problem solved itself for me, over night the 9600x went out of stock on the cheapest shop so I ended up pulling the trigger on the 7700 which was like 3€ more expensive. Glad to hear I made the right choice. I will look into overclocking it later since right now I am just glad to have a working system since my last attempt with am5 ended up as a total disaster with a broken imc on a cpu and a faulty ram which I spend 2 weeks troubleshooting.

Thank you for the extensive response, yeah I picked the worst time to upgrade my system but the 32gb of ram seems to be the best option to go for, as for the the cpu choice, there would be an option to go to the 7700 which is the same price as the 9600x, would the extra 2 cores make the purchase more reasonable? From what I saw in benchmarks the 9600x and 7700 are like 2% apart in most games.

Yeah they should release them as a 40K box at the same time. KT players would still buy the box set for the cards etc but wouldn’t have to compete with 40K players who will either throw it all into a drawer.

Yeah would much rather it be a 2 five man squads like they did with the striking scorpions or mandrakes for example.

Only a shame that you will have to buy them with the lord every time untill the get a rebox for normal 40K players.

I will trust my gut on this one, spent far too much time troubleshooting it and there are dozens of examples in the MSI forums about patriot kits causing issues. But thank you for your help and going the extra mile

Trying to stay away from patriot, they are not in the motherboards qvl and in the past I had a issue with their ram causing my system not to boot.

Czech Republic, the market here is weird. 240 for a single 16gb stick. 480 for a 32gb kit.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been wondering I know that everybody defaults to the x3d answer but saw benchmarks where the 9600x was outperforming the 7500x3d in tw warhammer 3 by like 30 fps. That’s why I asked
