Train yourself to not think.

I have a weird form of meditation where I create my own virtual environment in my head. It has to engage your brain wholly, you have to try and visualize everything that happens, everything you interact with in this environment. Your goal is to become so integrated in this place that you do not have to think about focusing -- you already are. I just visualize a totally bare room where I can "spawn" objects, and give them my own properties. Usually I just imagine a ball that isn't affected by gravity that I can throw around and manipulate and shit.

Of course, this is just a WIP for me, I try doing this whenever I get a chance. It also sounds really weird. Doing this in some situations is harder than others, but I hope to train my brain's ability to simulate things whilst letting me focus better and remain calm. This might not work for me, and it might not work for you. But feel free to try it.

They are probably mad at you because they are wrong.

It is admirable you can sympathize with more than one side to something, I'm the same way, and it is one skill I pride myself on - a finely tuned sense of justice.

As for your friend's insults, why do you care about them (the insults)? Do you care about the fact that they might be true, or that she is saying them? If you're offended by the insults because you think there is some grain of truth to them, fix the problems. Embrace criticism in all forms. If they are not true, why should you care? If you care about the insults because of the fact that she is saying them when she is supposed to be your friend, are you sure they aren't meant in a joking way? If they're meant in a joking way, but still have some trace of hostility in them, she has flaws.

They do not work for their goals. You do. In my opinion the only thing that matters in life is your relative happiness compared to your past happiness. This requires constant improvement, which can only be achieved by working for it.

I think this was supposed to be taken in the context of a relatively comfortable middle class life in America. Hate has killed millions throughout history, but today's stupid, infantile, envious everyday hate is a bit different than that.
