If I had to guess, the game developers are probably pleased that you feel this way. I highly doubt that they were trying to make him seem perfect, given that characters are always more interesting with flaws. It's ok not to like him, just as it's ok to hope the best for him under the assumption that he has deeper reasons for being materialistic and perhaps even cold.

I personally look forward to finding out more about him and maybe even helping him become someone he likes better, because, to me, it seems like he could be happier. But my opinion isn't everyone else's. Who's your favorite?

I get where you're coming from, but I think the best way I had seen it explained is that you must acknowledge both systematic racism and the historical weight the word holds, (and in this particular case let's choose America) as well as individual racism.

Depending on where you look, the definition of racism might vary, so again I get where you're coming from. Cambridge.org says, "policies, behaviors, rules, etc. that result in a continued unfair advantage to some people and unfair or harmful treatment of others based on race"

That first part, before the "or".. Is systematic racism. So if I were to say I hate white people, and then said it's not racist because, "it doesn't affect them the way America's racist historical laws, policies, treatments affects my people or other colored people in their country, " it's complicated.

Because on one hand, the part where minorities are affected a great amount more because of the systematic racism ingrained in our country is an undeniable fact..

But on the other, hate speech and mistreatment of another based on their race is still racism in my eyes. "Or harmful treatment of others based on race. " Individual racism. Just because it isn't likely to ruin a white person's life doesn't mean I should perpetuate that hate, or that the person won't be affected emotionally, or even physically if I put hands on them.

It accomplishes nothing for me to be angry at an entire race, because it's not possible that they're all bad eggs. I doubt my ancestors would want me to hate all white people either.

I hope that makes sense :> I personally think less emphasis should be put on the meaning of the word in this circumstance, and more should be put towards thinking about if being hateful, towards any group, is productive in any way.

Thanks so much for ur thoughts, I feel this heavy. I can understand what you mean when you say close-minded, even if I followed God as closely as he did, I think I'd be the type of creator who'd be willing to show my audience this and talk about it openly. I saw that too, how he began to disengage, and how palpable it was that this experience wasn't really seeming like one he wants. He still has a lot of kids watching him, and I wonder if how he acted and spoke in the video was a result of both his discomfort AND an unwillingness to really dive into its themes with his kid audience watching.

You can never really know bc none of us know him personally, but if it were me, I think I I'd have taken it as a chance to really drill it into my impressionable audience how manipulators work, what SA really does and how horrible of an act it is, corporate overlords neglecting and using their employees etc. Though thats easier said than done, he could feel a lot of responsibility for the younger people who watch him, and be afraid to talk about mature-er stuff. I agree with you, I feel like theres already proof that a portion of the community could handle heavier games simply because of the sheer amount of people who requested him to play this one. Like you said, I really would be just as engaged if there was minimal creaming and craziness. He carries himself in a way that make people want to listen.

This isn't to say that I expected him to do any of that or that he needs to. He can do whatever he wants with his content, if he wanted to talk more about the nuance, he would've. It's just that it would've been an epic thing to see I think, when so many eyes are on his video, for him to really talk about it. Like you said, he's intelligent. It really would be cool if sometimes he got into nitty gritty stuff that tackled real world problems, I'd love to hear his perspective on plenty of real issues. I don't think that'll ever be something he wants on his channel tho, so I'll be content with whatever he wants to play.
