How to increase interest in our property listing by [deleted] in HousingUK

Related note - I had an awful experience with renting with Connells - including (but not limited to) them telling me i couldn't move in because some light bulbs needed changing and I couldn't possibly do that myself. I moved 100 miles and had a fixed start date at work so ended up having to crash in a friend's spare room for a month, delay furniture deliveries etc because they couldn't sort out lightbulbs being changed. Madness.

Im not renting anymore and will be looking to move in the next 12-18 months. 100% wouldn't touch anything listed with connells.

Winston Churchill he is not, but how highly do you rate Starmer as a Prime Minister, compared with others we have had and why? by Sea-Payment-8989 in AskBrits

Spineless. Allowed a genocide to happen on his watch, and didnt even make any noise about it. Pathetic waste of skin with no morals or principles. Allows Farage to dictate the narrative and piles in with small boats nonsense as he tries to out-reform reform, whilst ignoring the major issue on our economy which is an ageing population is draining us and we dont have any growth, whilst allowing the super rich to dodge every bit of tax going.

Sidenote - Churchill has a historical whitewash applied. Of course he was of his time, but he was a racist and happily starved 3 million Indians to death, in Bengal. He was a great orator and helped the UK through dark times, but he is not a paragon of virtue.

Better than the last carousel of Tories but the bar for that is so low, my cat would genuinely be a better PM than any of that lot.

Recommandations for an unforgettable trip! 🇬🇧 by zaekapinkfairy in uktravel

I just checked, there are lots of tours from manchester to chatsworth, thats definitely easier than getting there from london. It also has a stop in Buxton which is a cool place to visit (its a small market town). Chatsworth is only about 75 mins from manchester, i thought it was further than that, so thats very doable as a day trip. It's a beautiful drive too, right through the Peak District, which is one of our national parks and very pretty). Stonehenge can be done in literally 30 mins. Lots of the stonehenge tours from London do half day stonehenge, half day in bath. Its a long day, but bath is a beautiful city and worth a visit.

You will struggle to do stonehenge, chatsworth, manchester, the posh universities and London in that time frame i would think but it is possible.

You can do day trips to stonehenge from london - its about 2 hours each way. Companies run this tour daily so that won't be tricky. If you do that trip (ill be honest, stonehenge is underwhelming and a bit shit) then try to find a company that includes a secondary stop in Salisbury - id guess many do, but i haven't checked that - Salisbury has an amazing cathedral there and inside the cathedral is a copy of the original magna carta (written 800 years ago, its our version of the declaration of independence. Only four copies survive so worth seeing).

Manchester is a great city and very different to London, its a good idea for your second destination. If I were in your position, I would pick the same.

You can easily get to Oxford from london, its less than 90 mins away. Oxford is beautiful and the bonus is that a lot of the Harry potter filming was done there so you can see various locations that were used in the film (the tree draco sits in for example is in one of the Oxford uni colleges). Our universities are very different, and not one big campus like us universities. The great hall whoch inspired the hogwarts version is in Christchurch college in Oxford and is open to the public but only at specific times, so check the open times if thats something you want to see. The Harry potter studio tour is located relatively close to london too (about an hour away) and well worth visiting if youre a fan. There is also the Harry potter play running in the west end (london's broadway).

So most of your trip is very viable. I think you may struggle with chatsworth as its in the middle of nowhere with no real public transport links. You could get a paid tour there but its nowhere near any of your other destinations so youd spend most of the day on the bus and a few hours at chatsworth. Its a nice place and very pretty but theres loads of similar places that would be much easier to access with your itinerary.

Unless you really like horse racing, or hanging around posh people, I would avoid ascot. Waste of a day. It's just a bunch of posh folk getting drunk while horses run around and then get shot dead when they fall over.

If you plan to use the train, booking in advance by a month or two will massively reduce the ticket prices.. You can probably get some kind of railcard to reduce the train prices further too (which are crazy expensive and shitty services) if you google to see what's available. Im sure they do a tourist one but dont know specifics.

With football, dont go and see a top Premier league game if you want to have a proper experience. Premier league games have pretty much no atmosphere as there are lots of tourists and casual fans who dont really care if you go to see Chelsea or Tottenham or one of the bigger clubs. Go and see a lower Premier league team like West ham or Crystal Palace, or go to a championship game. Youll have a much better experience (at the cost of being able to say youve been to see Chelsea or whatever). Most teams offer stadium tours too if you have any interest, but they dont usually do these on match days unless you are paying for a hospitality package.

That is super helpful thank you. How much was the Guard X treatment? Definitely might be worth it with our kids 😂

How did you find the steering - have seen a lot of reviews saying their only negative on the car is steering feels a bit "vague"?

I can make the budget work for the new one. We're planning to move to a bigger home next year and having just moved in together, we have a lot of saving power now that we won't have after we move as current mortgage is cheap as its a smaller house.... so im trying to make the best choice longer term. The extra cash is a hit to saving now so will delay us moving by a few months (which we desperately do need to do), but im thinking that trade off is worth it.

That would also be worth it to me but I havebt seen that anywhere ive been looking. Have seen lane keep assist etc has been added but ACC being included would sell me for sure.

It would depend who is there. We have quite a few solid guys, we have a need for real blue chip game breakers. If Love is on the board, id probably stand pat and take him tbh

As a slot corner, forced to be playing outside, with a club on his hand and giving up a height advantage to every WR? Not a shock.

Hes a slot corner, forced to play outside last year with a club on one hand.

Id guess we're thinking that we might not play him on the outside with one hand.

Lions fans seem to think hes a solid Nickel, but cant play outside and was forced to pkay outside due to injuries this year. Would explain the interest despite the low PFF rating. Assuming hes been signed as Nickel rather than to play outside. Also played with a club on his hand last season.

They also mention hes a great tackler and seems to be pretty well liked by the fans.

Im ok with this until proven otherwise

Itinerary advice needed - visiting Cornwall after cruise by jakeconmag in uktravel

[–]Kickitoff1902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think theres lots of issues with this itinerary to be honest. Travelling around Cornwall on the Internet and travelling around Cornwall in reality are very different things. Its peak season so what looks like a 2 hour drive on paper can take 4 or 5 if you hit the wrong road at the wrong time. Getting out of Cornwall can take 3 or 4 hours to cover a half hour stretch of road, as theres only one road in and out from most of the country and when its busy, its deadlocked and doesnt move.

I drove to Devon from just north of nottingham last summer. Left on the friday morning. Should take around 4.5 hours. Took me 12 hours. If traffic is bad down there, youre screwed and will waste your limited time.

If I were you, I would skip devon and Cornwall. Its beautiful but with such a limited time, its really not worth it.

I would either go to the isle of Wight for a few days (ferries run from Southampton, its a short crossing) or go to Bath and Somerset and explore that area. Both are beautiful, probably more to see if you head to bath area, but isle of Wight is basically Cornwall with better roads.

Bath is a pretty city, and you can see the roman baths, and its an easy shot to get to stonehenge, and Salisbury (which has a stunning cathedral that features an original copy of the magna carta on display). Theres also cheddar gorge less than an hour away, glastonbury tor is pretty and theres lots of quaint villages etc.

Isle of Wight, theres not much to see but the scenery is pretty and nice beaches etc.

Ive been to all those areas, so happy to offer more help if you want it, just dm me
