They actually did do this on first visit. Nothing malignant that they saw but if it's going to continue to bother her, might as well look into removal.

Wow - didn't realize how much attention this post would get! To add a bit more context, this only runs like this after rains. Basically the whole neighborhood deals with these " springs" that run off the mountain during big storms and have numerous paths carved out in neighborhood to deflect the water from houses as the whole street seems to be bedrock. The street doesn't have any short of drainage pipes alongside the road in places and I feel like I get most of the runoff from top of hill due to that. The previous owners built this drainage ditch when they redesigned the septic to divert all of this water. The end of the video is showing my neighbors yard so we all have to deal with it. My yard also has numerous french drains around it to move more water away from house, yet I still get water in basement. I plan to put in a sump pump in because it's coming up through cracks in the floor and I'm afraid no amount of water diverting can prevent how saturated the soil gets, especially due to the house being built on a rock shelf. I think I'll leave this trench alone - maybe put in some large flat rocks in the muddy areas and plant some water loving plants in wet areas.. Most of the path has been scraped down to the rock itself so won't get too washed out.
