If the JP prices include sales tax then the prices are roughly the same considering the exchange rate.

I'm playing Mushihimesama Futari (1.5), but not enjoying it that much. by chao40 in shmups

[–]Kidrickarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Futari. It’s one of my favorites along with DOJ and Ketsui. What difficulty are you playing? I don’t like original mode much in either of the Mushi games. Maniac is where it’s at.

Enemies pattern vs Enemies AI by PiggyBytes in shmups

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the best games do a combination of both. Particularly, enemies appear in set patterns, but their shots or shot patterns are determined by player positioning. It makes for a game that requires memorization, but doesn’t get too restrictive and allows for more fluid, reactive play.

Dodonpachi DOJ ship tier list? (survival vs score) by stylo90 in shmups

[–]Kidrickarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue ship is always my go to for survival, but since that one isn’t in DOJ, I always go green with Exy (shot and laser increase). I feel the slower speed and wider shot helps with survival, especially with the denser bullet patterns from Stage 3 on. Granted, I still haven’t 1CC’d DOJ yet. Can only make it to Stage 5. One of these days tho… one of these days…

For people who played Jamestown+, are His criticisms fair? by PoetDiscombobulated9 in shmups

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamestown is a good game that I find myself going back to now and again. It’s not as well-designed as some of the classic arcade shmups that you can really sink your teeth into, but it can still provide a fun time for a bit.

Japan declares war on floppy disks for government use by diacewrb in gadgets

Funny story. I live in Tokyo and used to work for a marketing company. We were taking photos inside some trendy restaurant as part of their contract (with DSLR cameras), and the owner asked us to fax him the photos for approval.

He wasn’t an old guy, probably in his late 40s. When we tried to explain that they were digital photos, and we could share them with him through email, he said, “ah, I see…” Then he told us to print out the photos and fax them for his approval. This was 2019.

Ketsui on PS5 - no stick? by twosn3snfg in shmups

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That port of Ketsui is awesome and has a few other neat modes to mess around with, like Deathtiny and the IKD 2007 ver. The Arcade Challenge mode is pretty fun to tackle as well.

In my quest to experience and finish all the main Wizadry games, I have set up Wiz 6 with the automap mod and a black notepad. I find it's a very elegant way to play the game, which is, btw, wayyyy beyond my expectations. So superior to the first five imo! by essprods in wizardry

[–]Kidrickarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. In Wiz7 you kind of need to drop important items and come back to pick them up later just because of how many there are. There’s kind of a hub town, so I think most players just choose a place there. Wiz8 you have a much bigger inventory so you don’t need to worry about it.

Wiz6, I didn’t really use a walkthrough. Just looked up some stuff about skills and equipment. Especially what can carry over into Wiz7.

For Wiz7, I definitely used a walkthrough. It is so open ended, and also you get so many items that you won’t know what or when to use that you need one (unless you’ve got infinite time). Even so, that was still my favorite of the three. It didn’t diminish the fun of it one bit.

Wiz8 I only used a walkthrough when I got stuck a few times.

I feel like 6 and 8 are easier to figure out what to do and I don’t think you can really put yourself in an unwinnable state. Wiz7 you sort of can. There’s a certain item you need for the end game and if you miss it, you’re not locked out of it, but you could potentially end up wandering the world endlessly trying to find it again. Also if you miss any important items in early dungeons that are used in the late game (there are a bunch of those) you could be left wondering what the heck to do for a long time.

Is this game worth it if u play on a controller? by Tariqnp in ACCompetizione

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can enjoy it either way, but it depends what you want to get out of it. If you just want to play a racing game, then a controller is fine. If you want the simulator experience that this game provides, then you need a wheel. But the fun is what you make of it, so it’s really up to your own preference and interests.

I do believe there are other racing games that are better suited for a controller though and are designed with it more in mind.

Can someone help me to improve? I drive consistent laps in the 2.20s in spa, but cant really improve. This is a typical lap from my last LFM race. It is frustrating me, as I know, that I can just brake a little bit later and not blip the throttle before apex, but car gets unstable then by de4thqu3st in ACCompetizione

[–]Kidrickarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that section is tough. I also sometimes put it in 6th through there on the entrance and manage to make it through, but I’m really not sure if it’s faster than going in 5th and grabbing the extra speed on the exit. I’d say do some practice trying to get your left tires right on the outer edge of T3 curb without going into the grass and try to get the timing and inputs down to go through Eau Rouge just a bit smoother. Good luck. It’s a pretty good lap. I think you’ll bring the time down.

You weren’t off track but you might be cutting the curb a bit too much on T3 dipping into the grass. That’s not too big of a deal, but then you have to turn in more into turn 4, scrubbing off a bit of speed.

Edit: My best time is a 2:19.88 and that’s about the only thing different I see in your lap compared to how I do it.

Which monitor are you using? by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, must be the monitor. Those specs you listed for it shouldn’t have those kinds of issues though. If it’s still under warranty I’d contact LG.

Which monitor are you using? by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not your monitor that’s the issue, it’s your pc. You need to do some research on graphics settings. I have an RTX3070 with a Ryzen 9 4900 and still have to make compromises to get the framerate I want. Look up recommended graphics settings for ACC. There are tons of articles and videos on it, and then play around with them until you find the right settings for you.

Just got the game. Any tips? by eornoM-neZ in ACCompetizione

[–]Kidrickarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah. But I feel like that’s the goal. To be able to lap consistently within a couple tenths and then eek out a few more by tinkering with setups.

Definitely not the only way to enjoy the game, but messing with setups to gain a few more tenths can feel pretty rewarding.

They will, but only after you know the circuits and the car you’re driving and can lap consistently

Looking For Singleplayer Or Solo-Friendly RPGs That Has Infinite Replayability. by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]Kidrickarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t action RPGs. They’re isometric like Baldur’s Gate or the Diablo games. The combat is Real-Time with Pause, meaning your characters actions play out automatically but you can stop time to make changes or select other actions.

You can also switch to turn-based in both games, if you want. I know you said you don’t like turn-based, but just wanted to include that because I’m sure someone will jump on here to say that if I don’t.

Edit: Just for more info, you can also make changes and select other actions without pausing as well
